Four arrested after turning selves in for World Trade Center BASE jump
Fox News ^ | 03/25/2014 | Fox News

Three people accused of parachuting off the top of 1 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan this past September turned themselves in Monday along with an earthbound accomplice to face charges, including felony burglary, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, misdemeanor jumping from a structure

The case is the second in two weeks arising from surreptitious stunts from the structure. A teenage boy was arrested on March 16 after authorities said he slipped through a gap in a fence, eluded an inattentive security guard and spent about two hours atop the 1,776-foot-tall tower.

The incidents have raised questions about security at the lower Manhattan site, which is supposed to be one of the most tightly protected in the country. The site is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The NYPD said last fall that investigators were looking for two parachutists in dark jumpsuits seen floating near the building around 3 a.m. on Sept. 30, landing by the nearby Goldman Sachs skyscraper and walking away.

It was "very exhilarating," one of the accused jumpers, Andrew Rossig, told the Associated Press Monday as he and co-defendant James Brady headed to a police precinct to surrender.

Who is being rude? Who is resorting to name calling? It certainly wasn’t me. I was asking the question if this was a slow news day as I am at work and do not have access to the normal cable news channels.

I am aware that many times there are days when there is little news of significance. On those days, I re-focus my attention and the time I spend following current events. If it is a slow news day, and the MSM is only reporting local events, then I choose to not pay attention to RSS feeds. If however this is just a local story that was put up due to local interest, then I will keep my eye on RSS feeds as I have interest in international, national and economic news.

No one ever said anything about others checking with me about their posting content or selections. So stop putting words into my mouth and only speak for yourself, please.

Pretty much every time someone posts “slow news day?” they are being snarky and rude.

It is no different than the putzes who go on every thread about TV’s posting they don’t have a TV. This group is usually lying too.

You have certainly been here long enough to know this..

Clearly the free fall parts of the video would have been similar to what those people experienced in the last few seconds of their lives.

I have parachuted from a plane and fallen from a building while iron working.

They are quite different.

Andrew has made hundreds of jumps and most of those people just made the one.

And there is a group of putzes (your term) that feel they need to read into comments of others, projecting their own perceptions and take insult where none was ever intended. These putzes resort to name calling like “rude” and “lying” to try and belittle others with their own comments even when the original comment was not directed to them.

From what little I know about BASE jumping I learned from one of the jumpers referred to in the attached article.

They know full well that when they BASE jump that they are trespassing, and could get caught and ticketed. One thing that they never do is cause damage to whatever structure they are jumping from, as that would add destruction of property to any charges if caught.

They scout jump areas for several days, trying to find the best way in and the best way not to get caught. That tells me that the hole in the fence had been there at least a week. These guys admitted going around a tarp covering the hole. (And no I don’t think they cut the fence previously, hoping it wouldn’t get fixed)

Since security and the uppers knew about the hole since at least mid-September, you would think that area would be patrolled just a tad bit better.

That is indeed a law on the books in NYC.

We all know that “whatever” law (stupid or not) will automatically stop people from doing “whatever”.

While I am certain that most base jumpers are relatively ethical in their activities. The fact that they are doing what is illegal to do in the first place makes them more likely to do something like cut a hole in the fence.

Having said that, that does not mean I believe they should be charged with such unless it can be shown that they did it.

“We all know that “whatever” law (stupid or not) will automatically stop people from doing “whatever”.”

So.....if I jump off of a park bench in Central Park I have committed a crime? ;-)

English not your first language you rude putze?

You know you were rude. I know you were rude and now everyone knows you were rude.

Maybe you can admit you were having a bad day or Aunt Flo is visiting or you can go full on liberal and try to defend your rudeness but it won’t change anything. If fact to go further saying your post was innocent is to stray into lying territory.

Again with the name calling. The one being rude and childish is the one who starts with the name calling. The first rule of a debate is that the one who has to resort to name calling has already lost the debate. Plus, all kinds of assumptions and projections on your part ... so sad.

What is even more interesting is that the original person that I asked my question to responded that the story was of local interest and they did not have a problem with my question. You however decided to take offense and inject yourself into a conversation that you were not an original party to.

The person who is being rude is YOU. So begone, we desire neither your counsel nor your countenance.

Don’t cry dude!

It isn’t that big of a deal and you’ll know better next time.

When you need additional guidance I’ll be here.

Oh, and I took a break with the original poster a few minutes ago and she agreed that everyone who makes posts such as yours is indeed a putz.

How do you like them apples?
