Chinese plane lands at wrong airport in Australia

The first Chinese plane heading to Australia to join the hunt for a missing Malaysia Airlines jet landed at the wrong airport on Saturday, underscoring the difficulties facing the increasingly complex multinational search effort.
The Chinese IL-76 military aircraft made an unexpected stop at Perth International Airport before heading to its correct destination at RAAF Base Pearce outside Perth, where search and rescue operations for Flight MH370, which has been missing for two weeks, are now being coordinated.

This reminds me of the Chinese “hot shot” pilot that kept messing with American aircraft until he crashed. His name was Wong Wei. Seriously...

A poster at the site suggested that the Aussie pronunciation of “Perth” can sound a lot like “Pearce” (the airbase where they were supposed to land), making confusion easy for those who know English only as a second language.

LOL, well, their notion of instrument flying is to follow the rail road tracks. Their AF doesn’t do much foreign flying, especially over long spans of water. Actually, I’m impressed that they found Australia.
