Got Obamacare, can't find doctors
CNN ^ | March 20, 2014 | Tami Luhby

Terri Durheim and her family now have health insurance, thanks to Obamacare. What they don't have are local doctors and hospitals who will take it.

This worries the Enid, Okla., resident since she has a teenage son with a serious heart condition. They now have to find a pediatric cardiologist in Oklahoma City, more than an hour away.

And if there's an emergency ... "obviously we'd have to pay out of pocket and go here in town, but that defeats the purpose of insurance. I'm truly grateful we have insurance. It's reasonable and affordable, but it's not doing me a lot of good," said Durheim, who just had to drive 90 minutes to Stillwater, Okla., for a CAT scan for herself. "It's so frustrating."

Her mistake, she acknowledged, was that she didn't look specifically at the provider network for "preferred" plans on the Blue Cross website, instead searching the network for all tiers Blue Cross offers. So she didn't realize that these providers don't take her plan until she wanted to use it.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma said that she can upgrade the policy to a "choice" plan, which may cost her between $50 and $100 more a month, through healthcare.gov. But the site will not let her switch, and the exchange representatives said she'll have to wait until next year. A Blue Cross spokeswoman said the insurer will help her switch plans now.

Democrats never bring this issue up when the defend the Unnaffordable health-care act.All they have been saying over the last few years is the lie that Doctors will take patients with pre-exsisting conditions,as if the treatments will be paid for by the government/small-copay.OOPS! they forgot to tell us that there may be a slight chance of a major physician shortage once the bill takes affect!

The intent of Obamacare is not about your health.

It is
1. funding a political team of people “navigators”
1. obtaining listing of potential Democrat voters
2. obtaining more information about the populace

It was Never about health.

“Terri Durheim and her family now have health insurance, thanks to Obamacare. What they don’t have are local doctors and hospitals who will take it.”

Rather than a private enterprise, free market approach, of course, the Commiecrats will say that that just shows that ObummerCare does not go far enough: all doctors and facilities must be made to participate. Everything must be run by the Gubermint.

The establishment Republicans will counter with “O.K., we agree that it looks like every doctor and facility should be made to participate whether they want to or not, but we don’t want the doctors and other medical personnel to be government employees (at least not yet).”

You’re covered! For what, wee don’t know, but you’re covered. Keep paying that premium and deductibles.

“I’m truly grateful we have insurance. It’s reasonable and affordable...”

And I’m just so darn glad I and all the other tax payers in America csn pay for your health care, your sex change operations, your shot up gang bangers, your drug abuse, and your countless other poor health decisions, princess.

But, you know, the reason thst it’s affordable is that it’s a coerced gift from others who are forced to pay more for their own health care and the health care for their families in order to cover the charges you’re generating.

I'd modify that. It's about controlling the health of the masses....flu shots, record of health/lifestyle, checking on people's physical and mental conditions once a year. If one gets a disease, they'll get a treatment just the same as everyone else with those symptoms. They'll be treating the symptoms, not the causes, by an established protocol.

The problem is real bad and irreversible long term. There will be no incentive to come up with new or better remedies when patients only get what's covered. There will be no incentive for medical providers or patients to choose cheap alternatives when the more expensive one is covered, and the alternative isn't.

We'll get general one-size-fits-all health care for the masses while the rich get specialized indivdual medicine for the elite who are wealthy and connected.

This used to be science fiction.

So many people have complained that the Obama administration said last week it will require insurers in 2015 to maintain networks that provide enrollees with access to doctors "without unreasonable delay."

And a rise in deductibles and premiums will go along with that requirement. Insurers are not going to take it in the shorts.

uhhh if you have to pay out of pocket or travel 1+ hours for covered care.. It’s neither reasonable or affordable.

IMHO, the most interesting facet of ObamaCare will occur once families have met their deductibles, even the very high ones generated by ObamaCare.

Want to guess what the price curve is going to look like then?

A close family of friends had a child in residential care for several months a few years ago. Needless to say they met their deductible limit very quickly. Then they had to fight with many healthcare providers to prove they didn’t have any copays.

Imagine doing this at 3AM, in an emergency room, with a very sick child. Now, imagine doing it over the phone with a bureaucrat located miles away. Also image the quality of bureaucrat that works the “grave yard shift”.

ObamaCare a gift that keeps on giving.

My husband and I make decent money. Not rich by a long stretch, but our vehicles are paid for and we own 2 homes (renting one of them) that are each 1/2 paid off. Children gown and gone.

I did the “affordable care” calculator and low and behold the lowest insurance I can get from O-FU-CARE is $800 a month which is double what I pay through my employer. Not only that but vision/dental are not included either as it is for us now.

So I’d have a MUCH LESSER plan through ODumbo’s lovely mess.
