>Drugs, booze, lack of sleep...something was wrong.<

He was stoned (again).

Most likely a strong sedative indicated by that half-assed smile of euphoria on his ever-so-arrogant mug.

We watched it live and seriously thought that he was going to pass out a couple of times. Valerie probably pushed the button on her dog-training collar to revive him.

Did you notice his right eye obviously drooping more than the left? Mini-stroke?

Guaranteed that he doesn’t remember a single name he read yesterday or even being there at all.

Glad others saw it, too.

You know the order was given to go find 20-30 minorities to give medals in order to display how racist we were and how enlightened we are now.

Not every heroic act merits a medal of honor, and nobody doubts this group probably did something brave, as almost every active service member does at some point.
The real disgrace is that if any of them really were deserved, they are now tainted from being grouped with the “Affirmative action Medal of Honor” bunch.

So now the MOH is a political award?

Clinton did much the same thing back in 2000 when he awarded 21 Medals of Honor to veteran Japanese Americans who served in the U.S. Army 442d Regimental Combat Team during World War II.

Individuals in both groups being decorated are recipients of the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation's second-highest award for valor in combat. This award alone is a high honor.

The upgrade to Medal of Honor in every instance is going to individuals based on ethnicity issues, real or imagined, that possibly prevented them from receiving the medal originally.

It's interesting that both presidents handing out this award never served a day in the U.S. military. President Bill Clinton was a draft dodger from the Vietnam era.

Obama's reason for not serving is more obscure, much like the rest of his past.

Of the 45 individuals awarded the medal by Clinton, or about to receive it from Obama, no doubt a few are deserving. Certainly not all.

This is nothing more than a cynical political ploy by two Democrat presidents to pander to their constituent base.

The prestige of the Medal of Honor is being diminished greatly by awarding it in such a cavalier fashion.

PS ... I should add as a measure of contrast the Marines 'Chesty' Puller was awarded the Navy Cross five times (the Navy's equivalent to the DSC) and one Distinguished Service Cross. Not aware of any effort to upgrade any of General 'Chesty' Puller's six medals to MOH status. No further comment needed.

These men deserved the Medal of Honor but didn’t get it because of their skin color. I’m not buying it.

I'm not buying it either, being as it's this administration. I heard on the news that these guys had at the time of their service received the Distinguished Service award. I'd want to know if any (and how many) minorities had earlier been awarded the Medal of Honor. And how many and under what circumstances whites received the Distinguished Service award instead of the Medal of Honor. Remember how the DOJ had to search to find a black killed by a white who went unpunished -- and came up with Zimmerman?

Yeah, but only 5 on D-Day? I recall the subject came up when Capt. Dick Winter, E/506 PIR, was put in years later for the MoH for the assault on Brecourt Manor. The Army said in effect, “Sorry, there was already an MoH awarded to a member of the 101st ABD.” Do Capt. Winter had to be content with his DSC (not that I think he much cared one way or the other).

The Army and Marines were handing out MoH’s like door prizes during the Spanish-American War. But perhaps there weren’t other medals for valor available at the time. I know the MoH was pretty much “it” during the US Civil War.

Prior to World War I, the Medal of Honor was it. The Distinguished Service Cross and the Navy Cross were added in 1918. The Silver Star started out as a citation star on the campaign ribbon in WWI, but became a full medal in the 30’s. The Distinguished Flying Cross was established in the 20’s and the Bronze Star and Air Medal are World War II additions.
