Pope Cancels Tentative ‘Noah’ Meeting With Russell Crowe
Variety ^ | 3-18-14 | Ramin Setoodeh

Pope Francis has nixed a would-be meet and greet with the creative team behind “Noah,” including star Russell Crowe, director Darren Aronofsky and Paramount vice chair Rob Moore, which studio executives had been scrambling to schedule as a photo-op, Variety has learned.

The meeting was tentatively on the calendar for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the VIP section so the pope could figuratively lend a blessing to the $125 million biblical epic. The reason the Vatican cancelled it, according to a source, is over concerns word would leak, causing a spectacle as Crowe and Aronofsky landed in Rome.

When reached by Variety last week, Aronofsky said the meeting had been proposed, but it wouldn’t happen if anybody reported or tweeted about it ahead of time.

“Noah,” scheduled for U.S. release on March 28, has been criticized by some religious groups for taking too many liberties with the story of Noah’s Ark.

Wouldn’t you know Christians are going to get the blame for critiquing lies so that the truth can be swallowed up by lies. Good old President Bush will get blamed to.

Good move. Crowe is an historical moron and I heard that the ‘flood” in this stupid movie (does ANYTHING good ever come out of the movie industry anymore) is attributed to global warming and overpopulation.

Tried watching Crowe in a Robin Hood movie and had to turn it off. Too much political PC crap.

Noah: the first global-warming apocalypse.

It's a documentary, right?

Criminy. I thought my "global warming" crack was far enough out there to be clearly satire, but obviously not.

Thanx for telling us what you “heard.” I’ll comment after I see the movie.

I heard a radio advertisement for
“Noah” yesterday. It was full of disclaimers regarding the Bible and religion. Was shocked, as I had never head such thing before. This is going to be a major disaster for the studio’s bottom line.

I wonder if they’ll point out in the movie that the reason the world is being destroyed is because of its sinful ways.

Or maybe, instead, they’ll have four of each species boarding the ark, namely a pair each of straight and gay animals.

I don’t think it’s so much the actors but more the writers and directors who are responsible for these propaganda flicks.

Well, they are ultimately responsible.

But just Google people like Meryl Streep, Russel Crowe, etc and check out their party affiliations. Most of them are Democrats and most of them are far left liberals. The major movie studios are owned and run by leftists and conservatives don’t get much in the way of movie opportunities.

Not only are most of these actors liberals, they are arrogant, narcissistic and feel they know better than the average American, when in reality a great number of them are poorly educated and historically ignorant.

So, you’ll spend money on a movie in order to decide if you should spend money on a movie?

Keep people shut up about that until it happened? Ha! Hollywood is an entire industry dedicated to being seen before men. And another entire industry dedicated to revealing the stuff the first one doesn’t want seen among men.
