I have to admit that eliminating the filibuster for nominees is providing unanticipated benefits.

Dem Senators from Red/Purple states no longer have the option to act as free-riders on Republican-led filibusters, nor do they have the ability to cast votes for hard-left nominees under the justification that they were just standing up to GOP obstructionism.

Now they’re looking at actually having to defend their votes, on their merits. And for a good number of them going home to a pretty pro-2nd Amendment constituency and explaining why they voted to put an extremist gun-grabber into the position of Surgeon General - where he’s promised to make gun control the public-health issue long demanded by other extremist gun-grabbers - is going to be a pretty uncomfortable experience.
