Ares Armor
update: The ATF did execute a search warrant against all of our buildings today. None of our employees have been detained or arrested. We will be open for business tomorrow. We will be back up and shipping out orders on Monday. We wholeheartedly believe that they are WRONG in their actions and we will be relentlessly pursuing remedy through the courts. Quote from an ATF Agent during the raid “searching is fun! paper work sucks.” Maybe the ATF thinks the Constitution is part of that paper work that sucks... Despicable behavior on their part. This is just the beginning! Thank you all for the support! -Dimitrios Karras, CEO

Apparently all this began because "one of the council members was upset by the sign". I just got done backgrounding all the council members:

Mayor Jim Wood & Deputy Mayor Esther Sanchez apparently are backed by the unions. The other 3 council members I dismiss as being party to this without more information.

If it's the Mayor, he really put himself 'out there' walking into Ares the way he did. He's not on the MAIG Coalition List (I downloaded the Member Coalition list Bloomberg deleted from the MAIG website in January, current a/o November 1, 2013, if anyone needs it).

My $$ is on Deputy Mayor Ester Sanchez.

These are her 'endorsements' for her 2012 election:

Mayor Jim Wood, City of Oceanside
ACTION
Team Oceanside
Sierra Club
League of Conservation Voters
Veterans Democratic Club of San Diego County
Carlsbad-Oceanside Democratic Club
Democratic Party of San Diego County
Labor Council of San Diego and Imperial Counties
Oceanside City Employees Association
Oceanside Firefighters Association
Oceanside Police Officers Association
Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC)
Mexican American Business & Professional Association
Citizens for the Preservation of Parks and Beaches PAC
Oceanside Business Owners & Community Leaders

I read somewhere that the ATF went back into court for a clarification of the order, and that thereafter, they were permitted to execute a search warrant.

I read that the hearing for same was ex parte.

What gives when counsel is known? Not even a telephone conference for a clarification?

Who will prosecute them? The “justice” department which has deliberately broken the law and continues to do so?

I used to hope we, the people, could straighten government out with no violence.

There are two lessons to be learned here:
  1. Don't buy an 80% lower without a copy of the ATF letter stating that the hunk-o-plastic or hunk-o-7075 is not a firearm. Why not? Because...
  2. The government doesn't follow its own rules.
The ATF letter and a restraining order are only government issued pieces of paper; but, the former is a government issued piece of paper saying that you can do something, not one saying that they can't do something. When the tell themselves "don't do that", they have no problem changing their minds and saying to themselves "oh... all right... go ahead". This wouldn't be a problem except that their courts will look the other way and let them. In the case of the ATF letter, the courts are a little less flexible. For reasons that I really can't explain, they still take the issue of entrapment seriously.

So now that I think about it, there's a third lesson:

  1. Whenever someone tells you "Get the government issued letter for that first", pay cash.

Oh, but registration isn’t a precursor to confiscation and persecution or anything.
