I remember him when Johnny was host. He was pretty funny guy and pretty clean for a comic. He was a funny guy, and yes, clean. Maybe it was the times, but I don't even remember him being that 'suggestive'.

He worked clean. Not many comedians can make that claim and it speaks very well of him.Classy.....

There goes another bit of my youth.
How true. In the past year or two I'm finding these stories and reactions are becoming a bit of a constant.

He was on the very short list of Johnny Carsons replacements
when Johnny retired but was considered too ethnic.
Interesting. Have we even today had a Jewish late night host?
RIP to Mr. Brenner. I remember him too.

One of my favorite Carson regulars. Just a genuinely funny, good-natured man. RIP, David.

Saw him in person many moons ago. Hilarious guy. Clean humor and his role playing was extremely well done.
If laughter is the best medicine, he certainly left a lot of people much healthier than he found them.

I think his comedy type was like Jerry Seinfeld, Observational.

“wow... i had no idea he was in his late 70s”
If someone had asked me I’d have said 65-70 years old, gee this is sad on so many levels.

Wow, do I feel old.... I saw him once in concert, about 1980 or so. Laughed for an hour and a half straight!! My ribs actually were sore the next day. Thanks for brightening our lives a little, David Brenner!
