Your guess is correct as to the demographics of her district. Amazing that TEXAS has foisted her upon the nation. You’d expect SJL to come from Massachusetts!

That minority contingent in most any locale can produce the same kind of elected idiot.

We had a woman here in Indiana who was was functionally illiterate to begin with and then suffered from senile dementia. At the end of her “career” she basically went from the Capitol building to the mortuary. Then they elected her grandson as replacement who is a double win - black AND muslim.

Her district is in Texas. But it is made up of clones of her. It is in inner city Houston. A ride through her district tells the story. Do not lump her with our state. She is a obtuse exception.

The 18th Congressional District includes central Houston and many of its surrounding neighborhoods. The 2003 redistricting decreased the Black population of the district while adding Latino residents, and today Blacks comprise 40 percent of the 18th Congressional District and Latinos make up 37 percent. The district’s poverty rate is 23.3 percent and the median income is $31,291.
