As a business owner I’m amazed at how many people will sit and talk for long periods, be late, leave early and so on. yet I bet they’ll be the first to want over time.

If he sets the threshold high I see several employees in my company losing their jobs.

Isn’t that the truth!??!! Years ago, I became the supervisor in an office where the employees had 15 minutes breaks (not mandated by law) every morning and afternoon. And full freedom to get coffee, go to the restroom, chat, personal phone calls, etc., whenever they wanted to. I told them they had to decide between having the breaks or the “freedom”. They elected to give up the breaks.

The real amazing thing is that you tolerate that. God only knows how many people I’ve ever worked with who do all that and more, and STILL have their jobs. Even worse, is the pattern of these types of employees getting ahead faster than those that actually DO work, are on time, don’t waste company time ‘chatting” (I call it gossiping), and don’t leave early.

Why is this?
