Israelis Detained on Board Norwegian Jade as Cruise Ship Docked in Port of Tunis

Israeli tourists were denied the right to disembark from the Norwegian Jade, a vessel operated by the Norwegian Cruise Line, when it stopped in the Port of Tunis, Tunisia recently, Jewish human rights organization B’nai Brith Canada said on Sunday.

As passengers prepared to get off the ship to visit the North African republic, the Israelis were quietly told that they were not welcomed by the Tunisian Government, the group said in a statement.

The cruise line did not advise the passengers in advance that Israeli tourists would be confined to the ship for the stop. Other Jewish passengers were unaware that their coreligionists were being detained, since no public announcements were made. They were outraged when it became known, B’nai Brith Canada said.

The group’s CEO, Frank Dimant, said the Norwegian Cruise Line has “a responsibility to its passengers” to “advise them of this discriminatory policy in advance.”

only two Arab speaking countries (AFAIK) will even allow you in with an Israeli stamp in your passport, Egypt and Jordan.

Otherwise I will be doomed to playing craps and hanging out by the pool grill. The horror!

When I was on a cruise ship that docked in Israel in the summer of 2012, the Israeli customs didn't stamp our passports just a slip of paper to accompany the passport. Furthermore at the end of the Israeli stay, the slips of paper were take back by the Israelis.

Norway keeps its own immigration policy very strict but panders to, and perhaps delights in, the islamification of the world.

Norwegians are not generally pro-Israel inasmuch as their population bomb of Moslems is still sizzling. (It’ll go off in five years or so.)

The only thing to see in Tunis is Carthage.

If you want to see Carthage cruise with one of the Italian lines.

I have cruised the Med and seen Tunis and Carthage on MSC SPLENDIDA. MSC lines are delightful.

I do not really enjoy cruises but thought a cruise on the NOORDAM was the best yet.

I would possibly not have been permitted to disembark were I a cruiser on a Norwegian line.

This is “VICHY SYNDROME,” and it is alive and well!

Perhaps if the Jews topple a few more buildings in New York the world will really celebrate by turning their countries over to a bunch of inbred neanderthal paedophile suicide bombers!

Oh, too late.

As long as your family isn't being screwed today, as long as someone else's kids are being singled out, why bother? Cruise Norwegian! Hey, it's Christmas! Follow orders Catholic friend!

Over 50 years ago I misspelled Christmas like that once.
Dad gave me a short informational lecture on the correct meaning and spelling. He finished with if you ever spell it like that again you will never get another Christmas present in this house. Never have misspelled again.

Same here. What’s more, I can’t think of any mohammedan country I would have any interest in visiting.

What do the Israelis on board want? That everybody else on board be denied the opportunity to visit Tunisia just because they have to stay on board? Granted, they should've been told ahead of time if the cruise line knew. But otherwise, lighten up.

Being on a cruise ship when almost everyone else goes ashore and it's not moving is very nice.

No Israeli with any sense at all would expect to disembark at a Muslim country with an Israeli passport. Did they bother to find out where the ship was going? It's not the cruise line's problem that the local government will not allow Israelis to visit.
