The United States recognize a non-democratically-elected president and government in Ukraine, issued from a coup d'état, but won't recognize a referendum of self-determination organized in an autonomous republic with a legitimate parliment, government and Constitution.

That says it all, the US president administration pi$$ on democratic principles, when it suit them.

The US (renamed NATO for the occasion) intervention in Kosovo in 1999, created a precedent in international law, we can see now its consequences.

US supported every secessionist group that wanted to break away from Yugoslavia, they bombed Yugoslavia into smitherness in 1999 to split it in two, and they EVEN declared the Yugoslav Army to be an "occupier" on its own territory. The Assembly of Kosovo, a province of Serbia, approved an unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008. Kosovo was soon recognized as a sovereign state FIRST by the United States, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and others ...

The US and EU cannot have it both ways. They can’t say, for example, that the right of Albanians to self-determination in Kosovo trumps Serbia’s right to territorial integrity, and then turn around and say that Ukraine’s right to territorial integrity trumps the right of Russians in Crimea to self-determination.

Anyway, the people of Crimea don't give a flying f..k that Obama and his inept administration recognize or not their decision on their future. Obama is not their president, is NOTHING to them, and he can go to hell, for all they care.

Good point, but they will try. Hypocrisy knows no bounds, not to mention that the US killed a lot of Serbs and bombed the Chinese embassy. How many Ukranians have the Russians killed in the Crimean action? Wesley Clark and Bill Clinton are war criminals who got away with it.

Well, doesn’t this remind us of THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA in the 1860’s?

The question is what is Crimea compared to Dixie?

What, are you a Paulista? So how's a non-democratically-elected government in Crimea, which is already illegally occupied by Comrade Ivan and his Kalishnikov, who are renown for stealing the vote in Moscow, a "referendum of self-determination organized in an autonomous republic"?

By the way, Crimea isn't actually all Russian. There's a sizable Tatar community who've been on the land long before even the Russians owned it. I'd like to see if, under normal circumstances, Crimea would really vote to join Comrade Putin's nazi government.

Am glad you wrote of Kosovo/Serbia because what’s happening in Ukraine is quite similar...........Members of this ‘new government’ have spoken of ‘ethnically-cleansing’ Russians - and even if they don’t go this far, their intent towards the Russian population is clear enough.

I think people need to understand Ukraine’s people and how they approach life in general...they don’t see or address issues as we do...it’s another culture entirely.

Additionally.....We were an ant’s hair away from nuclear showdown before in the Cuban Missil Crisis.......And what triggered that?...The deployment of NATO/US missiles into Turkey aimed at the USSR.

What defused that crisis? The agreement by the USA to withdraw such missiles. And we’re seeing this today in Ukraine.....An attempt by NATO powers (US, UK, France and Germany) to annex a state bordering the Russian federation, Ear-marked by the USA to becoming a short-range missile launch-site. .....And what will Putin do to oppose such a threat?

Truly amazing Americans cannot see through this, especially since we have such access to both sides of an issue and can find information to assess and come to conclusion of what’s really happening.

When I first watched Ukraine I couldn’t believe Nazi’s were in play and actually stated so...I was so wrong! I jumped to quick.
