Investigators suspect a vanished Malaysian airliner may have been blown out of the sky just like the jumbo jet that rained deadly wreckage onto Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988.
As Vietnam reported the possible sighting of an aircraft door from the missing plane, a senior official involved in the probe of its disappearance said the evidence so far appears to indicate that the aircraft is likely to have disintegrated at around 35,000 feet, Reuters reported.
Asked if that suggested a bomb blew up the Boeing 777, the source said there was no evidence yet of foul play, but noted the closest parallels to the planes disappearance early Saturday over the South China Sea were the 1980s bombings of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie and Air India Flight 182 off the coast of Ireland.
Although the source added that Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, could have broken apart due to mechanical failure, Malaysian officials have not ruled out a hijacking.

“The fact that we are unable to find any debris so far appears to indicate that the aircraft is likely to have disintegrated at around 35,000 feet,
I disagree....A midair breakup would leave a debris field measured in miles, ( think of throwing a bag of popcorn from a auto going 60 MPH), however a nosedive into the ocean could compress the metal into a ball taking most everything to the bottom.. Air France 447 left very little floating debris ......IMHO
Especially if it dove straight down and pancaked into the ocean floor.
Leaving a relatively small footprint.
They watched an obscure video /s
I also read an article where a relative was calling their loved one’s cell phone a number of times and it rang until the voicemail picked up. If it was destroyed or shut-off it would have not connected and gone directly into voicemail. But in this case, it was connecting but nobody was answering. (based on what I recall from the article)
but omgoodness! wouldn't that be racial profiling? damn, damn, damn...
You are saying that it won’t ring but will go directly to voice mail if it turned off and/or is destroyed? (this is true)
Destroyed cell phones when the number is called would still go to voice mail directly. Normally the only time a cell phone will ring (rings heard on the callers end) is if the cell phone is turned on and if no one answers the ringing it will go to voice mail. I did read that the sea where they think the plane went down is only 250 ft deep at the deepest point. Will modern cell phones work still if they are as far 250 ft under water? Plane might be in 50 ft of water? (Cell phones may survive the crash and may be fully intact. I believe they found cell phones intact and working after the Twin Towers came down)
So far NOTHING has been found. If the plane crashed into the ocean there would be miles of floating wreckage by now.
They killed a chicken and looked at the entrails.
Maybe they are “Lost”.
See the link in 28 above
“Also, could a bomb have blown it to bits so much that one would not find pieces large enough to be seen in the water?”
No, there would be bodies and luggage and insulation all over the place.
This report tells me that many had time to turn their phones on while the plane was still in the air and it is possible some phones are “working” until they malfunction or the battery runs out. The phones could be in shallow enough water. I am thinking they are looking in the wrong area of the sea for the plane.
This whole thing is bizarre. Now they are claiming the oil slicks are not from the plane.
I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be a relative right now. You still have hope but probably shouldn’t.

A senior Malaysian police official told Reuters Monday that there have been past incidents of people being caught trying to fly out of Kuala Lumpur with explosives and fake passports.
Interesting that the pilot failed to check in at 1:21 pm, more than an hour before it disappeared. Maybe the flight crew was part of a kidnapping plot and they landed at some obscure airfield.
I heard that today but what do they think the oil slicks are from? (did they say?)
Interesting that the pilot failed to check in at 1:21 am, more than an hour before it disappeared. Maybe the flight crew was part of a kidnapping plot and they landed at some obscure airfield. That would give them plenty of time to collect cell phones.
