This is big! Seventy-two percent of Republicans voted for someone other than the moderate establishment incumbent in the primary. It is almost certain that conservative Patrick will win over Dewhurst in the runoff election. To win in the runoff, Patrick will need to get only 3 out of 10 votes that went to other candidates in the primary whereas Dewhurst will have to get 7 out of 10.

This is the most politically powerful office in the State of Texas. Dewhurst must go.

Some like to delude themselves that Texas is moving left. Its just not true by any measure. More and more conservatives are moving to the state. I’m perfectly happy with the idea of the Unite States of Texas and I’m sure a good number of other states would love to join in.

Runoffs rarely turn out well for incumbents.

Sadly that is not true. Folks that did not vote in the primary may vote in the run off so anything can happen. I thought you had to vote in the primary to vote in the runoff. That would be the smart way to hold a runoff. But I have been informed that the runoff is open to any Texas voter. Rats hate Patrick so I expect a lot of rat voters showing up May 27

While I supported Jerry Patterson in the primary, I have no problem at all voting for Dan Patrick in the runoff election.
