HEY ALRIGHT!
I’m all about eliminating the IRS - but a flat tax won’t do that. A flat tax keeps the IRS, keeps paycheck withholding, keeps payroll taxes, is not border adjusted, and keeps business taxes.
A national retail sales tax fixes [eliminates] all those problems.
Gee, that makes Cruz' a regular genius, doesn't it? How does a smart guy like that miss this important fact? And, gee, your national sales tax won't do it either, now will it? No one to enforce the filing of sales tax returns, no one to collect the tax, and of course no one to monitor the offshore internet buying that will collapse the economy.
Of course getting rid of the Income tax involves passing a constitutional amendment which is an order of magnitude harder than putting a flat tax in place.
Economically the Flat Tax and NRST are equivalent (as per Sowell, M Friedman & Walt Williams.
Cruz is spot on here leverage the IRS scandal to move the ball forward.
Thanks for the ping, Principled. Been traveling and I am a bit late to this party, but have made several posts that I thought necessary.
