There are plenty of people throughout history that had a voice without being behind a gun or holding a weapon. I'm not arguing that the 2nd amendment isn't a right and should be infringed. I'm just arguing don't denegrate or give up your other unalienable rights by ignoring those battles.
I think it is amazing and a bit heartening that even in dark blue Connecticut that 85% of so-called “assault” weapon owners had the courage to thumb their noses at this unconstitutional law. If it had been 10%, the liberals could have just written it off as some law breaking kooks and brought the hammer down. But 85% or close to half a million gun owners is hard to write off as a handful of crazy kooks. The ball is the libs court....

Your observation becomes easy to understand with a quick look at the axis between Islam & the Left. These are more co-belligerents than soulmates, but share a common enemy: Judeo-Christian based Western civilization.

I had a “registered” AK-47 Assault Weapon way back when. I sold to an out of State Retired LEO when I decided I didn’t want to be on “THE LIST”.
I put Registering that Rifle and Voting for Perot in 1992 as two of my biggest blunders. Lessons learned and never forgotten.
After I sold the AK, I bought a ‘CA Compliant” Stag AR-15.
It isn’t Registered, and it never will be.

While we may have to agree to disagree, I respectfully submit that without the 2nd, all the others are at the whim of the tyrant du jour.
Perhaps we're coming at this from two vastly different perspectives.
In my view of this world, all that's accomplished by 'turning the other cheek' is to end up with both sides bloody.

When you buy a firearm and the gun dealer calls in for a check - it only goes down as either a "long gun", "hand gun",or "other".
Only the gun dealer has a record of model and serial number.
They would have to physically check the records of all gun dealers to find out who's bought rifles in the now-banned categories.
BUT,
Up until this year, you could sell, trade, or give away any type of long gun without filing ANY type of paperwork.
SO,
They still have no idea who has what, even after they (illegally) check the gun store records.
Almost certainly every person who allegedly didn't register is because they no longer own a scarey-looking rifle........
I can see a lot of “Let’s get Mikey” looks on LEOs’ faces at the prospect of going door to door to search for and confiscate firearms. “I’M not gonna try it!”
However, if this crap does go nationwide, I still suggest the strategy of “retreat and escape, organize with others, and engage those who sent the confiscators, but on YOUR terms”.

You are right about other battles that need to be fought but if we lose on the 2nd we will lose on all others. Period.
I would hate to be the cops they send out to start collecting. Talk about a crappy assignment. And dangerous.
