This is what Rotary International has spent the last generation working on_ the worldwide eradication of polio. India was just declared polio-free, and I think there are three nations left where it’s endemic (all Islamist hell-holes).

Bill Gates may not be everyone’s favorite, but hes donated a billion or so to Rotary to get the job done.

I’m interested whether this California outbreak has any patterns. Geographically, ethnically, etc. They have a cute white poster child in the article, but I worry about third world immigrants bringing third world diseases.

I’d worry about if it were coming from a refugee, say from Afghanistan where they still have active polio, whether officialdom would ever let that fact slip out.
