To anyone who has ever worked retail or worked directly with the public... "you people" isn't racist, it means literally you people - the fools who wander in and out of your establishment. The ones who make you wonder how they manage to feed and clothe themselves each day without assistance. The people who do and say the most boneheaded things.

Once you've worked with the general public you realize that while humans produce the occasional Einstein, nature produces a lot of examples at the other end of the bell curve too. I would be willing to bet "you people" had nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the guy self-identifying with the idiot end of the bell curve.

That's when Lucas says things got racist -- claiming the manager (a Mexican-American) mumbled something about "you people."

Unfortunately for the manager, he didn't mumble his "you people" retort in Spanish.
