Mitt Romney on Tuesday joined a growing chorus of Republicans urging the Arizona governor to veto a bill that would allow business owners to cite their religious beliefs in refusing service to gay people.
The former Massachusetts governor tweeted at Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R), saying it is right to veto the bill passed by the state legislature last week.

Brewer has not said whether she will sign or veto the measure. However, a number of media outlets have reported people close to her expect her to veto it....

I was thinking the same, my friend. Newt. Maybe just once, he could lead a discussion instead of leading the charge. HA!
A Catholic business owner is under the same obligation as the bishop and priest to oppose facilitating the trashing of a sacrament. For example, gays and lesbians think in terms of a “wedding” and “marriage”. Catholics are charged rather to recognize a sacramental celebration, and the Christian union itself as the “Holy Sacrament of Matrimony”.
Baking a cake for a perverse union (falsely fashioned as something sacred), and something that sacred scripture calls, “an abomination”, is a bridge too far for a devout Catholic. Newt knows this very well.
However, selling nails or providing some secular service to gays is not objectionable. We are not to be respecters of persons.
Guess I need to read up on what Jan Brewer is overruling that gives Newt his remark. Is it really about religious liberty? Or, is it a wholesale case of secular business rejecting secular materials and services to anyone they think is gay, by claiming religious privilege? I need to read the fine print.
In any case, I enjoyed the parallel to our earlier ruminations. :) Rita
Hi, Tennessee Nana. That’s a fun picture.
You take care.
“I agree with all that you said. I still dont think it will stop him from trying to run again. I believe the results would be even worse.”
Not a chance. He’s a family man and his wife and kids hated the whole primary thing.
Now my RINO-in-chief, Paul Ryan, from Janesville, WI. ...just may want to try again but at the top of the ticket..and after he has shaved his widow’s peak..which must have been the reason that they lost?
That's it? That's all ya got? You could have pulled it out of a quote book of comebacks apropos for any discussion, whether it's about car parts or politics! And how on earth do you construe that the "rant" was about you? It was what would count to all of us if the bastard had won!
That's all ya got??? "rants about me" is it?????? {^) Of course it is! Because I'm RIGHT.
“Here’s another fun pic about your boy Willard”
Cool.
Can you post a few pix of my heroes Rin Tin Tin and Rusty, Col Klink and the Pillsbury Doughboy.
You’re such a sweetheart.
XXOOXXOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
So ... what's your real opinion? *ducking*
Hey, right there with you, Bro FReeper. I am glad Romney lost. It was the first time in my life, too, of skipping the GOP candidate. I was relieved that he lost, and consider that America had a close shave. Obama can and will be beaten. Romney is like a vampire, sucking the life out of conservatism and making good people vote for evil things. The only way to beat him is put a figurative stake through his political heart.
“That’s all ya got??? “rants about me” is it?????? {^) Of course it is! Because I’m RIGHT.”
You bet. You’re a blooming genius. Bronze statues should be erected of you Because “I’m RIGHT.” People can throw rose pedals and alms before your tiny bronze feet.
Gee, and rino’s get all mad conservatives stayed home...like he would be any better than a dem. UGH...where is the difference???
The American people are too vested in sin to repent; most do not even understand sin.
Wish I was just making it up.

It never ends, does it> GOP ineptitude goes back to the Hoover, Lando,n and Willkie campaigns, or even earlier. For those with more recent but distant memories, it was Howard Baker who stood up in 1981 and sabotaged much of the Reagan agenda; then Nancy had him come aboard in 1987 as chief of staff! The enemies are within, as Nikita S. Khrushchev predicted.
We haven’t been offered the candidate you would like because the Republican primary voters won’t vote for them.
I am hoping for Cruz. However America has changed since Reagan, these days he would have alot of difficulty getting nominated, let alone winning the general election.
He’s living proof that voting for the lessor of two evils is still voting for evil. I’ll never do it again.
I see the politico tweet, and appreciate your trouble to link it for me.
I don’t tweet and the story with it was very short on context entirely, but does quote Newt saying that he would override the AZ bill. Maybe tomorrow I can see more context and reasoning, since he is Catholic and has criticised the assault on religious liberty. Something must be thought too broad in this AZ bill.
Thank you for the information, though. Rita
You might not know that Romney was pushing for homosexualizing the military and Boy Scout leadership, 20 years ago.
Aside from giving America gay marriage and Romney/Obamcare, he said this about those of us who own what he calls assault rifles.
“These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”
I wonder if you know his draft evading record, and the 172 year record of his family avoiding military service (they got here 172 years ago), not a single male in his direct line has ever served our nation in uniform, a perfect, 172 year record.
