Chairman of the Russia Duma Sergey Naryshkin meets the Isreli Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein
At a joint press conference with Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, Naryshkin answered reporters’ questions about the situation in Ukraine, saying that Russia is very concerned about it. Anti-Semitism and anti-Russian rhetoric in Ukraine are cause for consternation:
“Unfortunately, the situation includes many expressions of anti-Semitism from radical groups.”
The neo-nazi party Svoboda, which catapulted itself from its status as a fringe group into Ukraines fourth biggest parliamentary faction during 2012 elections, has been accused of anti-Semitism, and party leader Oleh Tyahnybok has come under heavy criticism for a speech accusing a Muscovite-Jewish mafia of ruling the country.
This is straight out of Kremlin propaganda book - to discredit a massive movement against Yanukovich by focusing on a small group of people and label the entire movement as “nazi”.
As for the Jews in Ukraine, they’re as split as the rest of the population. There are those that are standing on the Maidan. There are business, political and cultural leaders who work alongside those you label as “nazi”. That’s one group of Jews; the other group of Jews don’t have a clue what it’s about because they’re on the outside looking in. They’re buying into what’s on the Russian TV because it’s feeding into their Cossack/Bandera/Ukrainian phobia.
In reality, sodomites (as one gentleman here suggested) and Jews is not what this rebellion is about at all.
