Oh Jeez, I remember party lines too.

You could NEVER get a word in edgewise unless you picked up the phone and pleaded for the gossips to give you a few minutes to make a call.

And then you KNEW they were all listening in.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big Ike fan...he seriously mistreated Joe McCarthy for whom I have MUCH more affinity.
