CORPUS CHRISTI - Nueces County District Attorney Mark Skurka says a grand jury took no action in the shooting case against business owner Dan Caballero.

Back in December, Caballero was questioned by police when a suspected burglar was shot and killed at his home. Detectives were looking into whether he fired in self-defense when Dustin Tate entered his home.

Skurka did not detail what charges, if any, his office was seeking against Caballero.

The police report on the shooting stated Tate was shot twice before running through the backyard, hopping a fence and falling to the ground on the golf course. The report states officers found a pair of gloves and a backpack next to Tate.

Police found the mortally wounded Tate, age 29, not far from Caballero's home on Greenbriar Drive. Tate has(had) a long criminal history. He just got out on parole in July after serving two years of an eight year prison sentence for burglary. His prior convictions include several drug offenses, auto burglary, home burglary, and credit card abuse.

So I assume the home owner will be getting a medal from the city for doing the community a favor and taking out the trash?

From the article:

“Tate has a long criminal history. He just got out on parole in July after serving two years of an eight year prison sentence for burglary. His prior convictions include several drug offenses, auto burglary, home burglary, and credit card abuse.”

Sometimes the world is better off without certain people in it.

Here’s a model of efficiency:

He just got out on parole in July after serving
two years [of an]
eight year [prison sentence for burglary.]

“Back in December.....”

[Caballero was questioned by police when a suspected burglar was shot and killed at his home.]

Eight years > two years > two months.

End of story.

Good shoot. That should have taken the grand jury about 5 minutes.

In most European languages the word for “horse man/rider” also means gentleman or knight. English is odd in this regard.

We use two different words for two different meanings, and English is odd?............
