Check with her airline - if there’s an alternate connection through another city (Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Rome, etc.) they may allow a change for no fees. They don’t want to deal with diverted passengers and closed airports either.
It's BA, so it's pretty unlikely.
