Should Connecticut make it legal for terminally ill patients to end their lives? Advocates say that a peaceful death with the help of a doctor is preferable to a painful one from a terminal illness or an illegal one. Last years bill on this issue resulted in the first legislative public hearing on the topic, according to CT News Junkie, but never passed out of the Public Health Committee. Oregon and Washington have laws allowing assisted suicide. But proposals for a similar law here have faced opposition from doctors in the state, from Catholic archdioceses and from disability advocates. Whats your view?
If they do, it will be mostly dimmacrats that are affected.
Yes but only of leftist! Otoh only leftist would see it as an option to start out with. One way to turn the state red!
No, but Maryland should for all Rats!
Too bad, my FRiend, you don't understand socialists. They don't want YOU to kill you. They take a real delight in THEM killing you. And they really want the RIGHT to do so. At first, seemingly with approval, but eventually, at whim.
But we only have 2 more State of the Union addresses by Obama. After that what are we going to do? I guess we can have reruns of Malloy’s speeches but that would be tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment.....well, maybe not unusual though here in Connecticut.
And is more common then we care to admit. Have you tastes the institutional food in the nursing homes?
Bears and whales, I hear, have ENORMOUS stores of fat. Humans don't. Beside, that is part of the bear and whale feeding cycle. It's built into their instinct and cycle of life, isn't it? Bears also SLEEP away the months. They don't NEED so much food for that activity.
It takes an older human (90+ years old) about one month to die when s/he eschews food and only takes liquid. Even if the liquid is all that supplemental stuff to take in lieu of food it's not enough. Of course, one can't predict the EXACT amount of time because so much depends on that person's general health and stamina...and her Maker's will.
You haven't been to Wal Mart lately, have you?
Hahaha! I walked into THAT one. Heeheehee, mixed with an "ICKY face" and a rather large EEEWWWWWW!!
GOOD one.
Memo to: all political strategerists:
CT is in middle of final fight over suicide and the opposition forces have done the usual:
1. Sent an appeal to their supporters to contact their state legislators
1-x. response: These appeals are largely ignored and even when letters are sent, no response from the legislators
2. I know of a group that plastered church parking lots on SUN.
2-x response: Caused a bit of a dust-up, but no flurry of letters to the legislators.
3. the Churches will send out their usual diplomatic opposition ... without naming names and with no teeth.
3-x Response: Instead of Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. The tactic is “Name no targets, be gracious to all, keep it general, and do not be polarizing.”
We are resorting to: meeting as a group, pre-writing letters (mostly handwritten, some typed) and doing a “letter drive after Church” ... people sign their name and address to an already written letter as they leave church.
This is much work. Not only is it very tedious, but following the letters, group must then do envelopes for each letter with address hand addressed with Return address.
This approach avoids the “all letters look identical” problem by using different envelopes, different stationery, different stamps, different handwriting.
The dreaded 50,000 scary generic Catholic postcards is thus avoided.
Bottom line: Problem ONE: since legislators do not respond to these things we cannot really tell who is genuinely undecided. And TWO if we plaster an area with a flyer informing voters that their Rep is pro-suicide ... it’s not effective as almost all will not respond with a letter. And if letters are the only effective techniquie, Letters have to be solicited individually. Any other incites?
insights on incites ?
I would have protesters throw pig’s blood at pro-murder legislators.
the Baptist protesters tell me that pig’s blood is not kosher. Can they use chicken innerds?
As long as they are foul-smelling.
