Two severed heads were dumped in front of a bank in the western Mexican state of Michoacán on Monday, days before a planned visit by Enrique Peña Nieto, the president, to the volatile region where he has launched a major security offensive.
Though there was no confirmation of the identity of the victims, officials believe the murders in the town of Parácuaro were the work of the Knights Templar cartel seeking to dissuade potential informants.

How very sad. Michoacán is a lovely place and used to be a great vacation spot, particularly Pátzcuaro and all around the lake there. Just heavenly. The natives there were among the very last to submit to the Spanish during the conquest. Now it is some kind of hell on earth. I am sure the real Knights Templar are spinning in their graves.

But according to Vicente Fox, only Mexico’s finest people come to the US.
The war on drugs has been an abysmal failure. If our government wanted to stop the influx of illegal drugs from coming into our country, they would. If Mexico wanted to curb its cartels, it would find a way to do so. But there is so much money involved and so many people are on the take, it will not happen.

We have a friend who immigrated to the states legally from a pitstop in Michoacán. He started out as a dishwasher at El Torito and wound up opening his own restaurant. Years ago he built a humongous house there since his dad was still there. He used to gather up donated medical equipment, fire trucks, etc, and the firefighters would help him caravan it all down there. He no longer goes down there like he used to because it is too dangerous. Sad.

Sad for him, but lucky you because the food is wonderful. Does he make corundas? Really too bad what is happening to those folks. Many of them are good, decent people who have watched their country being taken over by the worst of the worst.
I caught that error after I hit the post button. But he was backed by the French which was bad enough.
Have no idea about corundas but his Cancun Shrimp is to die for.
