It starts with indoctrination in the schools.
I coached HS baseball in SoCal from 2010-2013. The banter on the field was seldom directed at any one kid in general, aside from just razzing, but comments about homosexuality in general would often be bitter and biting. These kids did not seem to be getting the message.
