The U.S. Chamber of Commerce throws down the gauntlet to Tea Party
American Thinker ^ | 01/09/2014 | Rick Moran

Tom Donohue, president and CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce, gave his annual "State of American Business" speech and didn't pull any punches toward the Tea Party.

Claiming he wasn't "attacking" the Tea Party, going so far as claiming that they agree with many Tea Party positions, Donohue nevertheless made it clear which side of the GOP civil war he's on.

The Hill:

"In primaries and in the general election, we will support candidates who want to work within the legislative process to solve the nation's problems and who understand that business is not the problem, business is a big part of the solution," he said during his annual State of American Business address.

The Chamber is a political juggernaut that spends millions of dollars on television ads, and its endorsements are often decisive in congressional races.

The group reported more than $32 million in independent expenditures during the 2012 election cycle, making it one of the biggest political spenders in the country, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

But while the Chamber has long been an election force, it is looking to be more aggressive in spending money in party primaries.

That's thanks to last year's government shutdown, which exasperated business groups and other traditional allies of the GOP. Now groups like the Chamber are making plans to oppose Tea Party upstarts.

Does anyone know when the US Chamber of Commerce changed its logo so that it resembles the Obama logo? The similarities are at least as striking as those between the Obama logo and Pepsi.

Let's just say there's 1 million Tea Partiers willing to donate $200 each.

Chamber of Commerce will have to dig deep to equal the $200 million the TP could easily raise.

Secure the borders or forget it. I wish the very rich in this country would decide whether they are capitalists or socialists. If you are capitalists then support capitalism and if you are socialist then be ready to pay your high taxes as you so richly deserve to. You can't have it both ways.

How is this an attack on the Tea Party? Claiming that it is against the Tea Party is just another attempt to create division inside the GOP. Any elected person HAS to work “within the legislative process”.

It's been my experience that Chambers of Commerce are usually a bunch of wishy-washy pansies.

I used to own a small computer store. I remember how fast the local chamber of commerce was to roll out the welcome mat to Sam's Club, and how bad the ass kissing was.

I wonder how many of them Sam's Club ran out of business too? Probably a lot of them by now, as that was in 95.

If we need these ‘workers’ so bad, why do we have such high unemployment?? Maybe they just want the newbies who will work a lot cheaper.

Their logo is red-white-and blue- the colors of the flag — now that Obama used the same colors and abstraction for his logo, we are not supposed to use these colors for anything else — change the US flag too?
