Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson shows what's wrong with conservatives
The Guardian ^ | 01/01/2014 | Ana Marie Cox

Posted on 01/01/2014 1:15:32 PM PST by SeekAndFind

We already knew he was racist and homophobic. Now it emerges that he thinks girls should marry at 15 or 16.

Know what? If you had told me, a month ago, that the Christian Right would have a strong reaction to a bearded religious zealot in a headscarf urging men to take child brides, I'd have believed that. And I would have believed that the man's family would go on Fox News to defend him, but I would have assumed they were doing it from a bunker somewhere, with voice filters and behind a screen … not in the studio on New Year's Eve.

Yet this is how things are playing out in the aftermath of footage showing Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson advising young men to "marry … girls when they are about 15 or 16", after, of course, "making sure she can cook a meal". "You need to eat some meals that she cooks. Check that out," he said to an audience at a Christian retreat in 2009. "Make sure she carries her Bible," he added. "That will save you trouble down the road."

I suppose it depends on how you define "trouble" – Robertson implies that it has to do with the little lady (or, better said, barely pubescent child) wanting some kind of monetary compensation for her labor ("you wait until they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that's going to take place is your pocket"). It also depends on which version of the Bible she has. Better hope she skips the part where it says, "there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ!" Actually, there a bunch of sections you should edit out.

These are the people who defend the murder of unborn children and extol the virtues of buggery, and they want us to believe that there's something wrong with CONSERVATIVES????

Nice try, freakshow.

Hey gang, this is The Guardian. Do you seriously expect them to approve of anything traditionally conservative?

I read the whole article and feel like I just ate a lemon. She's not a very happy lady. And she doesn't look too deeply into the Bible either:
Wives, be subordinate to your husbands,
as is proper in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives,
and avoid any bitterness toward them... -COL 3:12-21
My folks were married very young (my mother never worked one day outside of the household) and they were together till death did they part.

Go Phil go! This fearless, liberty-defending, plain-spoken man of God has the right enemies and the very best of friends.

More rubbish from the Guardian. Phil Robertson was being satirical in his comments to young men seeking a wife. He talked about marriage, not rape or fornication (sex outside of marriage) and said that the young man contemplating marriage to a 16-year-old girl should get her parent's permission. Hardly the big scandal this Cox woman is attempting to imply. Phil married Kay when she was 16 and he was 20. They had been dating for two years prior. That was not unusual in rural Louisiana nearly fifty years ago.

What really bothers this Cox woman is the fact that Phil Robertson didn't have his TV show cancelled and wasn't instantly ostracized (like Paula Deen) because he quoted scripture that calls homosexual behavior a sin and said that he didn't hear blacks he worked with (in the cotton fields) complaining about white oppression in the pre-Civil Rights era.

The left is so used to being able to destroy any public figure that dares to take a view that the left doesn't like. The ease with which Phil Robertson handled the GLAAD brouhaha and gained much public support (even from those who don't share his views on homosexuality) has really worried the left, who assumed that simply calling someone 'racist', 'homophobe' or just plain 'stupid' (this Cox person does all three in her little screed) is enough to destroy the target's credibility and possibly their career. Phil Robertson and 'Duck Dynasty' changed all that and it was certainly about time.

So, Ana....abortions for 14 year old girls are A-OK, though, right? Can she not see the idiocy of this? And, how girls/women are used? What an idgit.

In 2009 Cox also became a contributing editor for Playboy

Libs consider Playboy to be exploitation of women.

I stopped reading past this..

“We already knew he was racist and homophobic. Now it emerges that he thinks girls should marry at 15 or 16.”

I have yet to see any proof that Phil is racist or homophobic. When Phil grew up, it was not unusual for women to marry at that age.

The rest of the “hit piece” I am sure was more lies and deception.

I’ll bet John the Baptist looked a little like Phil Robertson. By the way . . what happened to the ascetic John the Baptist?

“We already knew he was racist and homophobic”

These days, when a lib pronounces someone as “racist and homophobic”, that’s kind of a death fatwa.

Consequences are expected to follow, are they not? So head for those Louisiana swamps and mete out some peoples’ justice, you “progressives”. Like right now.

Until the likes of Hefner (Playboy) and Flynt (Hustler) started giving gobs of money to RAT/Liberal candidates and causes.

Now skin magazines, along with the hard-core stuff, is rationalized by the Left as being liberating for women as they are making their own decisions about their bodies.

Ana Marie Cox is a self loathing jew in the mold of Bernadine Dohrn and Squeaky Fromme. That’s all you need to know.

We are thinking about heading down to West Monroe as part of our winter “WTF are we doing in MN” escape..

Texas/Louisiana and the red states between here and there are where we will be spending our money.

I plan on bringing home some duck commander stuff ;)

Agreed. The charge of course is fallacious.

And like all liberals, Ana Marie Cox is ugly both inside and out.

Compare that vile abortionist with the radiant beauty of our next President, Governor Sarah Heath Palin.

With Muslims taking over the UK and marrying child brides, only now is the Guardian screaming.

Besides gay people get married for love. Why not pedophiles?
