MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry offered an apology to the Romney family on Tuesday after a panel on her show mocked the fact that one of Mitt Romney's grandchildren is black. On Sunday's "Melissa Harris-Perry" show, Harris-Perry led a panel in discussing the "Photos of the Year," which included a Romney family Christmas photo.
In the photo, Romney is seen holding his adopted grandchild, Kieran, who is black. During the segment, guest panelist Pia Glenn sang, "One of these things is not like the others! One of these things just isn't the same," a reference to Kieran. "And that little baby, front and center, would be the one." For her part, Harris-Perry imagined Kieran Romney and North West, the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, marrying in the future. When The Right Scoop first took note of the panel's comments Monday, it caused an uproar. Early Tuesday morning, Harris-Perry tweeted an apology. She noted that she comes from a mixed-race family, and that she felt "familiarity" with the photograph.

This is POLICY for NBC, not some fly by night commentator. Brian Williams should never have been named top dog at the news department. John Roberts (first VJ of the MuchMusic channel (Canadian alternative to MTV) and a very successful news anchor in Miami) would have been far preferable.
What a skank in a network of feminines (read Lester Holt) and public perverts (read Stephanie Gosk and Jenna Wolfe). And all on the far left.
Her comments would seem to be the very essence of racism, no?

This must be, what, the 42nd time this year that an MSNBC slug has apologized for saying something stupid?
If Sean Hannity, Stuart Varney or any conservative had said something like this about a liberal family, his career would be over no matter how much he apologized.
And to think that the same people always screaming about “Faux” News for some egregious offense that they cant ever seem to specify seem to never find the time to give us their critique on this network.
A tweet is one step...a phone call to apologize would have shown some real guts and been the right thing to do
Excuse me but other than taking a racist shot at a prominent Republican, why was the Romney Family Christmas Photo even included (nominated) for “Picture of the Year”?
There was intent to smear from the get-go. I don’t think a simple apology should be accepted. This was not off-the-cuff or an unguarded comment.

And we all know full well that had the baby not been in the picture, no matter the reason, the pond scum at MSLSD and elsewhere would have been screaming how racist Romney purposely excluded him.

Well Harris-Perry, if Black fathers (actually the term should be sperm donor, not father) took some responsibility for their offsprings, then it wouldn’t be necessary for a White family to adopt a black baby and give it the love and care it needs. Look at your own race before you denigrate the actions of another race you racist idiot.

They remind me of the trial lawyers who know that they are asking a question that is out of bounds, knowing that despite the fact that the judge will tell the jury to disregard it, that the damage is already done.
