Veterans Rip Paul Ryan over Budget's Military Pension Cuts (see the Facebook comments)
Breitbart and Facebook ^ | 21 Dec 13 | Mary Chastain

Veterans and conservatives are expressing outrage toward House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). The cuts to retired service members’ pensions embedded in the budget deal cut by him and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) elicited an overwhelming surge of social media responses.

Members of the retired armed services community and conservatives across America are swarming Ryan’s social media accounts to express their disgust. Thousands are stepping up to rip Ryan over the deal. For example, one disabled veteran, Nicole Vaccaro Julian, wrote Ryan that his actions have cost him her support. “This disabled vet will no longer support you!” Vaccaro Julian wrote.

Another, retired Air Force veteran Paula Benway Flores, wrote that she hopes Ryan is removed from public office. “I never want to see your face again and hope we can get you out of office quickly,” Benway Flores wrote. “Faking to care about your fellow Americans and backstabbing the very people who give you your freedom. You make me question what I ever fought for and why I sacrificed my life and time away from my family.....Mr Ryan you DISGUST me with your fake integrity."

Mac Cochran, a retired U.S. Army sergeant, wrote that Ryan is not friendly to veterans. “Paul Ryan, you are no friend of the Veteran,” Cochran wrote. “How dare you take money from those that have risked everything to defend this Nation and what it represents...shame on you. Sergeant First Class US Army Retired.”

Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Justin Maloney wrote that Ryan has “betrayed” him and other veterans. "Paul Ryan, I just stopped liking you. I feel betrayed,” Maloney wrote.

If I read pension cuts one more time I’m going to scream. It’s a one percent change in the rate of increase beginning in 2015.

It includes disabled and survivor benefits, Hegel and McCain are making noise to shut down stateside commissaries (effecting AD folks) and booting retirees, disabled and spouses out of TRICARE...

For the average guy who doesn't think its a big deal never wore combat boots.

to shut down stateside commissaries

I read that some deem them not necessary in the age of COSTCO and Sam's Club.

This isn't personal, I can take the hit but I can't allow the disabled vets, survivors and their children to take the cuts. The Charities are nice but in the political area they should be untouchable.

The future of policy in DC from the big parties are austerity measures that involve “cuts” to programs along with higher taxes.

This is what Ryan and Murray just did with their “bipartisan” deal with most of their respective parties members in the House voting for it.

In the Senate, 36 Republicans opposed it, but for most of them it was a show they were putting on.

Changing the way the COLA is calculated was also proposed as a way to extend the life of social Security.

Changing the way the COLA is calculated was also proposed as a way to extend the life of social Security. The COLA percentages for Retiree pay was the same as SS adjustments. They were linked by by law.

My gut is telling me that both parties are gaging the backlash from this episode before targeting Social Security COLA in the near future. Forbes' Robert Laura wrote about it last weekend

That's still a cut from what we were supposed to get. Don't fall for government bafflegab.

Paul Ryan Facebook

When you hit the "View previous comments" under Ryan's most recent posts, you get an earful. People across the nation are outraged.

Ryan doesn't care. He wants to use this betrayal as a springboard towards screwing us all further.

Merry Christmas.

Get ready to scream. It is a cut in their future pensions. By reducing their COLA by 1% they are reducing the pensions until they reach 65.

Veterans are not the only ones ripping Paul Ryan. Not only did he screw the Veterans but he kicked the can down the road on any kind of budget reform.

All true, but never forget that he had help - a lot of RINOS are enjoying some time out of the mix even though they voted in the House or tried their "I voted for cloture but didn't vote for it" yo-yo-s in the Senate.
