- 25 C (celsius) keeps out the riffraff!
There are almost four centuries of linguistic drift between Canadian french and Continental french. And that’s not even counting the sub-dialects like Shiac (from the southeast shore of New Brunswick). A french-speaking court conducting a drug trial involving some Shediac residents literally had to hire interpreters to make out what they were saying.
No!!!!
What they speak in France is known as Parisian French. What they speak in Quebec is known as Laurentian French. A LOT of words are pronounced and spelled differently. C'est la vie.
Sorry, I believe this is a really, really, really stupid idea.
Aw, c'mon. Don't be painting everyone with such a wide brush. We elected and re-elected a Prime Minister who is the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. You elected and re-elected a (P)resident who is the leader of ...
You mean the “Conservative Party” of Canada
Besides, the people who are elected at the present time aren’t what I was talking about.
The important thing is to have the Provinces adopt the U.S. Constitution.
Sorry, I believe this is a really, really, really stupid idea.
Just look at it this way:
It's one way to get the Keystone XL Pipeline built.
Hmm, could be!
I’m not excited about seeing larger and larger territories under a single bureaucracy.
Especially at a time in which the bureaucracies are becoming ever more intrusive.
The only way this works is if the states and provinces are given more autonomy than they have now, with real legal barriers to overweening central control. You’d think the 10th amendment would be enough but clearly it isn’t. Giving even more power to DC than it already has does not enthuse me.
No apologies needed. It’s my fault for assuming the wrong thing. I always tell America bashers here to thank any American they see for decades of safety during the cold war. The nuclear threat kept the commies at bay. You’re right, we spend too little on defense.
Done! Let’s get this party started! Heh
I like the plan.
I used to spend quite a bit of time up on the lower mainland of B.C. when I was single back in the 60s. Knew people up there, most of them of the female persuasion, and there was a lot to do in the city. Vancouver is only about an hour and a half from home. I sure can’t believe how it has grown. There’s a couple of million people up there today. Good times back then.
Who elected them?

Canada is the single largest foreign supplier of energy to the United States.
Fix the Constitution first like I stated earlier.
