Cracker Barrel pulls 'Duck Dynasty' merchandise
FoxNews ^ | December 21, 2013 | Todd Starnes

Posted on 12/21/2013 12:53:16 PM PST by kingattax

Cracker Barrel said it pulled some Duck Dynasty merchandise from its stores over concerns it might offend guests, a move that infuriated thousands of customers and confused many others.

"We removed selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests while we evaluate the situation," Cracker Barrel said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

The full statement read:

“Cracker Barrel’s mission is Pleasing People. We operate within the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people. These ideals are the core of our corporate culture. We continue to offer Duck Commander products in our stores. We removed selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests while we evaluate the situation. We continually evaluate the products we offer and will continue to do so.”

Cracker Barrel's statement led to confusion among some customers who wondered if the restaurant was removing Duck Dynasty products owned by A&E or products owned by the Robertson family's Duck Commander business.

Cracker Barrel did not return phone calls seeking clarification or comment.

They removed Phil-related items regardless of them being DD or DC. I know this for a fact because I went to my local CB this morning and saw for myself and then talked to the manager who confirmed it.

They used to be a good company, with Southern values -- making sure that customers weren't served by filthy, disease-ridden sodomites. They've lost their way in the liberal-induced diversity nonsense. Take a look at their leftist Social Responsibility statement. It's right of obama-land, with an appeal to diversity, animal rights, multicultural "values" and other commie nonsense. And here's the picture that greets you when visiting their so-called Social Responsibility (yeccch) mission statement.

I used to enjoy dining in the late 60s and early 70s at the very first location on I-40 and TN-109 in Lebanon. It was a nice, pleasant stop while heading through Tennessee. This onetime Christian company has lost its way and discarded God.

Thank you. I have been waiting for clarification on this before I said much. I don’t eat at CB anyway (I rarely dine out, I don’t trust outside food service/prep these days), but I like to be informed.

The article was vague about it. You are probably correct.

I hope you told the manager that if they are so worried about offending people that you are offended. I hope you told him they have lost you as a customer.

Good business decision: anger 98% of your customer base in order to placate 2%.

the “selected products” were those that carried an image of Phil Robertson.

Duck Dynasty/Duck Commander has nothing to do with it.

Well, another meeting place to avoid. We, at least 4 times a year, gather in a group of about 40, to eat breakfast and then go on a car cruise. We’ll have to meet at Bob Evans from now on.

If what you say they say is correct, I’ll have to rethink my boycott of CB.

The article was vague. I might have reached the wrong conclusion. See post #23 for more information.

A week after Hurricane Katrina I was part of a volunteer church group processing New Orleans evacuees. One day I had a crew of Lafourche Parish jail inmates, all black, helping me. One of them asked me if I knew any good N-—— jokes. I said I would tell some if he would tell me some White Guy jokes. Before it was over there were people laughing so hard they cried.

I don’t believe tha CB has clarified this. One story had them removing anything with Phil’s image. This would agree with their original statement about removing items that would offend people.

If you really want Cracker Barrel to notice, organize a group of like minded friends as large as possible. Get them to all wear camo and go to your nearest Cracker Barrel, get it line to be seated and set in groups of four so as not to cause any out of the ordinary work for the wait staff.

When they come around for your drink order just water and nothing else.

Say nothing after that to the employees except "we are still deciding." etc.

Be polite. Stay at least an hour. Thank your wait-people and leave them a small tip and then leave and still not say a word.

Lather-rinse-repeat.

Silence is powerful.

10 tables of 4 people taking up an hour in a restaurant with no sales will be noticed by that manager.

If it happens at 10 different locations it gets noticed by corporate.

Leaving a small tip for the wait-staff is a courtesy and not supporting CB Inc.

If it catches on and thousands start doing it without any verbal communication at all CB Inc has to respond.

If CB starts banning people wearing Camo make sure those cell phones with cameras are put to good use.

A silent protest will affect their bottom line and cause them all manner of public relations problems without being rude or breaking any laws.
