The overnight ratings are in for Duck Dynasty. One week ago, DD topped all of cables ratings with 8.885 million viewers. Last night, they free fell down the list to 2.521 million viewers.
That is a drop of 6.364 million viewers, or 71.6%.
Congratulations to everyone for restraint!

I was more thinking about shows other than Duck Dynasty on A&E. If those numbers drop, A&E will have cause for concern.
But I think that what will happen is A&E will run the next 9 episode season which is supposedly done filming, then ‘admire Phil Robertson for his heartfelt apology’ and then reinstate him. Which is probably what the family is hearing from A&E right about now.
Since neither party is actually gunning for each other, it will probably blow over.
Myself, I’m pleased as punch at how people reacted, and hopefully will continue to react, as this issue reaches far beyond one reality television series.
“Fist couple?” Well, I guess that’s right. The homos really have a thing for the anus. Their idea of “love” is playing in each other’s poop. Nasty creeps.
I'm guessing the 'management backsides' are already spoken for.
It doesn’t mean they can’t start their own show. It just couldn’t be called Duck Dynasty.
The “management” are lesbians.
Gleefully
Agree with your post, I do.
On my G-Sat, here in the Philippines, we have History channel for A&E programs, including Duck Dynasty.
Unfortunately, many of my favorite programs are on that channel.
Here's the article from the same source showing the cable ratings for the previous Wednesday night, where Duck Dynasty won the night with almost nine million viewers: Wednesday Cable Ratings (12/11/13)
I wish they would switch to RFD TV. They would fit in perfectly.
I tuned in to DD for the first time ever via youtube. I don’t watch TV.
I was humored and entertained, I laughed and could understand why they have become so popular.
But what has happened is a battle in a much larger war. I read that the Robertsons and their backers will not back down. So the conflict is not settled.
Posters here say they have their website and can do business there independent of A&E. Others say they are independently wealthy. And they are no doubt popular, and now more popular than ever before.
Glen Beck has offered them to team up with his network. I expect they had a first class lawyer who provided in their contract with A&E for just about every contingency that could happen. And as it would seem with their wealth they have a warchest to cost A&E a lot in litigation.
So I predict in this game of chicken with the homomafia that A&E will offer to remove the suspension of Phil Robertson in return for some sort of apology or a condition that he pay a penalty if he offends the homosexuals again. I don’t think he will agree to that.
Hence, the Robertsons should fight for contract cancellation and go with someone like Beck who can provide them with really good writers and producers to carry on and expand their popularity.
I would like to see Phil Robertson sue the homomafia at A&E for discrimination and harassment on religious grounds.
Count me in the restrainer’s!
I think you’re misconstrued.
Even the reruns garner large audiences.
Wonder when we will hear the first spin about the channel losing so many viewers because they sided with A&E.
All that you said, plus it’s a fun show!
Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you closer to you . . .
I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of a travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier's coming home
In March, 2003, the Dixie Chicks insulted the President of the United States while on stage in London. That put their well-known liberal views in the spotlight, and they went from one of the top country music groups in the country to being an obscure footnote that could not get airtime without serious threats of permanent station boycotts. I imagine A&E is reviewing those events. Real Americans are powerful when we stand up for what we believe, particularly when we put our money behind our values. We need to remember that more often, not just with the entertainment industry.
A reporter asked his opinion, he gave it. Others ran with it to make out all sorts of nonsense.
The family has made it clear that they won't be continuing without their patriarch. They have left the ball in A&E's court to remove the suspension before filming will begin again sometime in the summer of next year. If they don't, I'm sure the family will simply move on without worrying overly much about Duck Dynasty.
In any case, the cast has already been paid for the season's filming, the episodes set (even if there is more editing to be done on the final six episodes.) A&E has an easy out in time passing and Phil's statement which can easily be read as an apology.
