Bigthink is domination-obsessed. People like that don't care whether they're living at a Paleolithic standard of life, as long as they're the best boy in the cave.
Capitalism is more about innovation and growth. Innovation and growth threaten established dominators, so they reach to dominate the innovation/invention process, or the people who are doing it. Hence FDR bringing in the Brains Trust during the Depression to help him dominate the United States.
Hence also Harvard's (Domination University's) hiring a sociology/psych professor who was very interested in the differing thought pathways of domination-driven and innovative people, and the interplay between these two groups. They hired him in to get him off the market .... and then kept him locked up in tenure for the rest of his career. That is one way to kill an a-borning idea: take it private, then smother it.
The idea he threatened them with was this, that Harvard's products actually "suck bad" and are toxic to American freedom and progress.
Ford and Edison were inventive innovators ..... although they dominated their shops ..... whereas the run of mental runts crowding into DC these last 65 years are all about dominative behavior types, who suck up to get power, and then just suck when they have got it.
I get the picture.
