The A-10 is a great aircraft for its intended missions, which includes protecting ground troops, taking out tanks and gun/missle emplacements or military airfields.
If the AF doesn’t want it then transfer the pilots and A-10 squadrons to the Marines, who appreciate their value.
Aside... Former Dallas Cowboy defensive lineman, Chad Hennings, was an A-10 pilot before he played pro football. I never figured out how such a large person could fit in the seat of a Warthog. Most AF aircraft will only accommodate a pilot of medium stature, so the A-10 is different.
