we did not let the ama speak for us, the government acted as if they were the voice of medicine. the AMA was bought and paid for a long time ago. Most of us were working so hard we didn’t pay attention. And being demonized for so long by so many, on this site as well, has demoralized doctors.

Demonize doctors? Yeah, I’ve seen some idiots even here do that. But they are, as I said, idiots.
Good doctors are a treasure. Too bad mine retired. Thanks again, low information voters who elected obama, you scumbags.

I'm not aware of any demonization of doctors (except by med-mal attorneys and their clients, and those who resent high earners, of course), they are still among the most respected of professions, at least by me. Still, they should have spoken up when they saw what was coming. I realize the AMA does not speak for most doctors, that was my point. Most Americans are not aware of that, though. The AMA endorsed (or at least did not oppose in any way) the ACA so a lot of Americans assumed that their personal physician was for it.
It isn't too late. Doctors could still make a huge difference in killing this monster. But they have to be heard.
