Not really ironic. Germany has traditionally been a big supporter of Israel out of a sense of duty following WWII.

The Israeli Navy is the big beneficiary. They’ve been equiped with top of the line German subs for years.

As to these destroyers, I wonder what the fit is going to be? The pic above shows an Oto 76mm gun and a RAM mount forward. Maybe Sea Sparrow (VLS) aft?
