Why doesn’t some progressive icon like George Soros or Bill Gates start a fast food franchise and pay the counter help $15 bucks an hour with gold plated benefits.
Wouldn’t all the Dems flock there for a $10 burger?
Show us stupid conservatives how easy it would be.
Moron.
Amen, amen. Someone needs to tweet that to 0’Tweeter.
What is he really trying to do? We all know it will kill jobs.
Indeed, especially in lieu of all the stupid “Feel good” “nonprofits” they establish.
Change your nonprofit objectives to min. wage subsidization, medical bills for the pre existing conditioners, food and housing subsidies.
Also, convince all the “Lil Darlins” in your families to give up their jobs and admissions in the name of “diversity”
How does raising the minimum wage raise the GDP? They aren’t producing more and in fact will probably produce less.
America was doing just fine before the evil Frances Perkins, pictured below with the Marxist FDR, started pushing this communist notion.
Any action to raise the minimum wage would be extremely inflationary and hurt those in all income brackets.
Instead, our focus should be to reduce taxes on the producer and investment class to give them the opportunity to spend more and improve the economy.
100K 1Ups. Now that right there is funny.
Back in my younger liberal days, I was a big supporter of the minimum wage. One day, my conservative dad asked me, “why do you want to increase the minimum wage?” I replied that I wanted people to have a higher standard of living.
So, my dad said that we should raise the minimum wage to $50.00/hour; then, everyone would be rich. Horrified, I said they cannot do that because people would lose their jobs. My dad said, “now you understand why states that have the highest minimum wage also have the highest unemployment rates.”
Not to mention that minimum wage increases also lead to higher prices. And that in an economy where people’s personal income is shrinking, the value of the dollar is shrinking to record lows, we have record unemployment/underemployment, along with already rising prices.
Finally, this is just another sad attempt by Obama to distract people from his failure with Obamacare and his failed economic policies.
I think they tried something like that called “Current TV”
“What is he really trying to do? We all know it will kill jobs.”

The following link is to an old FR thread, about an even older conservative booklet called “The Revolution Was”, written in 1938 about FDR and the New Deal. It is ALL happening again - amazingly, chillingly so. Only worse. (Last two paragraphs are the crux.)

An Excerpt:
Worse outwitted were those who kept trying to make sense of the New Deal from the point of view of all that was implicit in the American scheme, charging it therefore with contradiction, fallacy, economic ignorance, and general incompetence to govern.
But it could not be so embarrassed and all that line was wasted, because, in the first place, it never intended to make that kind of sense, and secondly, it took off from nothing that was implicit in the American scheme. It took off from a revolutionary base.
The design was European. Regarded from the point of view of revolutionary technic it made perfect sense. Its meaning was revolutionary and it had no other. For what it meant to do it was from the beginning consistent in principle, resourceful, intelligent, masterly in workmanship, and it made not one mistake......
Having passed this crisis, the New Deal went on from one problem to another, taking them in the proper order, according to revolutionary technic; and if the handling of one was inconsistent with the handling of another, even to the point of nullity, that was blunder in reverse.
The effect was to keep people excited about one thing at a time, and divided, while steadily through all the uproar of outrage and confusion a certain end, held constantly in view, was pursued by main intention.
The end held constantly in view was power.
Thank you for that info. So depressing.
Hah. Almost, some other 'evil' capitalist provide that at.
Nice benefits for just starting work.
Problem is, we pay on the clock, rather than on the amount of product made.
When I was a kid, I had jobs where I got paid by the piece, not by the clock. I learned to make the time count. Many years later, as a salaried technological innovator, I did the same.
No new product = no job, whether 30 or 80 hours a week spent in the lab.
Revise the minimum wage standards to be based on worth, not work, esp for those not interested in the welfare of the employer.
On any job, if you only make back what you earn, you are an unprofitable employee. With GE, if I did not make back five times what I was being paid in salary and benefits, I needed to be looking for another employer.
Do entry hourly laborers get the idea?
"See-saw, Margery Daw,
Jack shall have a new master.
Jack shall have but a penny a day,
Because he can't work any faster."
Somebody is going to have to start thinking about this
Here’s what will happen if he increases minimum wages: We will NEVER eat out again at a fast-food type place. We will buy groceries at the places that put out cardboard cases, and you bag it yourself. We will cut back on our (currently very minimal) shopping for non-food items, due to prices increases to cover the retailers’ new wage expenses. Just yesterday, the newspaper and MSM outlets were touting around here, a 2.5% increase, starting in January, for our natural gas costs, similar for water. The food prices have risen substantially the past several years. And so on... (preaching to the choir of FReepers, I know). Raising the minimum wage will put many more millions out of work. Think what that will do to the tax rolls and welfare rolls. It could be, mixed with 0bamacare fallout, the straw that breaks the camel’s back to sink the economy beyond the current state of sputtering along.
let’s see how long the ‘nice benies’ last after OBozoCare goes all in. Gonna be a lot of 29 hour temps servin’ up those double-doubles.
In effect raising the wage will have a domino effect that will just make the cost of everything go up and put them the minimum wage earners right back where they started. Those of us that work non-level—entry jobs will be hit the hardest because our wages won’t go up. It will make many businesses have to close their doors. Personally I think it’s intentional by 0 to destroy the middle class and decimate our economy for those that he answers to. I used to think it was all coming from his former liberal background and activist training but am now of the opinion that he is following orders given to him by someone with powerful connections who is strategically placed and and is coordinating these “attacks” to destroy the U.S.’s power and influence.
The evil knows exactly what he is doing.
