I agree. I remember when I was a kid and we passed a horrible looking wreck on the interstate. My Mom shushed us and told us to pray for those “poor people” who were “hurt”. Looking back, the accident was pretty severe looking and the possibility that someone died was great. So.. as a family.. we prayed. In our society, it is now commonplace to think about yourself as number #1. Take a parking space from someone, butt in line, push someone out of the way to get what you want... it’s all for number #1. You’re the champ.. you outdid someone else to get ahead. Not preaching... I went Christmas shopping today and saw an older woman fall. People walked by, looked at her and just kept going. I can say that I was the only one who ran over to her and helped the lady up. She was fine (albeit a bit embarrassed) but that bothered me. She was an “inconvenience” to others.. never mind that she was probably someone’s Mom or Grandmom, wife, friend or neighbor. Guess I am still shocked by today...

Our society is so different today than it was even 20 years ago. That may seem like a long time to those who are very young, but it's less than the blink of an eye in history. I realize that there was a change in the 1960s, but that change had already begun in the 1950s and even earlier, for those who have studied the subject.

I believe that a large part, if not all of that is due to the influence of the communist party. People today simply do not realize the manipulation wrought by the film industry, the entertainment industry, newspapers and the public school system. Joe McCarthy was right, flawed as he may have been as an individual.

As a result, the family has been, if not destroyed, horribly changed. People feel isolated and alone. Atheism and narcissism run rampant. Somehow, we have to change this course that we seem to be on. Good people have to work together, or I don't know what our future will be.

Yea, total poser setup!

This photog should work for the whitehouse correspondents - since they can’t take REAL photos over there either.

How do they know she actually took her pic? Did they see it?

Some doof in the comments said, “Okay did this Brooklyn bridge selfie person know there was a guy about to commit suicide? I think she’s getting wrongly attacked
— Zainabun (@zeemuffin) December 4, 2013”

Duh. Sure, she totally missed all the excitement and the people watching the guy and had no clue why a photographer was taking her picture.

Has anyone considered that she was taking a pic of the rescue, as if to say, ‘You wont believe what I saw happen today! They talked him down!”

The paper took a photo of the selfie in progress, and splashed it on the front page with the headline "SELFIE-ISH!"

Not to be insensitive to the man's situation, but she looks to be a quarter of a mile away. What did they expect her to do, change into her Supergirl outfit and catch him on the way down?
