My policy (self insured) survived the grandfathered clause, but yesterday received a notice from my insurance company that they were adding a 2.5% tax to the premium every month.

Was that in the bill or a clause recently grabbed out of Sebulius butt to add it?

I highly doubt that was in the bill, and like you say, pulled out of her ass.
