I can't believe they're forcing people to work on Thanksgiving
Various retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc., have been open on holidays for at least the last 30 years.
If you work in the business, you know going in that it comes with the territory.
For this (former) manager, he'll now have Thanksgiving off, Christmas off, New Year's off ... exactly what he wanted.

Bingo. You want holidays off? Work in a different industry.

If you work in the business, you know going in that it comes with the territory. I was in the Air Force for 20 years, and worked 25 years after that, till I retired 2 months ago. For those 45 years, I was a shift worker, nights, holidays, weekends. I did not necessarily like it, but I knew it going in, and sucked it up, and just did my job. It came with the territory.

That’s true. In the last 70’s, I worked for a department store called Westons. Every year, my mom made sure the serve dinner after I got off work. The store was pretty much dead, and I got paid time and a half. I didn’t complain!
Now that I’m older, I have a job where I don’t have to work holidays. I’m glad to be home on Thanksgiving. I wont shop that day either.
That’s my choice, of course.
