Senate Conservatives Fund blames McConnell after Dems go nuclear

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had an eye on November 2014 on Thursday.

Senate Democrats pushed through the nuclear option that morning, curtailing the use of the filibuster and drastically curbing the power of the minority. McConnell pointed to the next Congress as a time when he hoped that he, as the new Senate majority leader, could make a Democratic minority shoulder the consequences of that action.

But on Friday, a conservative group blamed McConnell and what they said was his “weakness” as a minority leader for allowing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to go nuclear.

Senate Conservatives Fund, an outside group who is backing McConnell’s primary opponent in Kentucky, political newcomer Matt Bevin, blasted McConnell Friday saying the rule change was his fault.

“Harry Reid did this because he knows Republican Leader Mitch McConnell will let him get away with it,” SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins wrote in an email to the group’s supporters.

“The only way to deter a nuclear attack is to make it clear that the response will be equally devastating. Unfortunately, weakness is the only message Mitch McConnell has sent the Democrats on this issue,” Hoskins wrote.

McConnell’s campaign dismissed that argument as sheer idiocy.

“That argument is so profoundly stupid that it is hard to fully ascertain whether their deficiency is in math or logic,” said McConnell campaign communications director Allison Moore. “It does however help further illuminate why SCF is so bad at what they do.”

Twice already this year, in the face of Democratic threats to invoke the nuclear option after Republicans blocked nominees, the two parties have struck deals to avert the rule change, something Senate Conservatives Fund — which has repeatedly hit McConnell for his role in deals with Democrats, like the fiscal cliff deal on New Year’s Eve —

Weak and feckless is no way to go through life, Mitch.

Harry Reid just played the knockout game on you.

Support Matt Bevin to oust Mitch McConnell in KY

I do NOT want to see MMc at Senate Majority Leader. I’d prefer Cruz or Lee or somebody besides Mc. But Cruz & Lee would be my first choices.

Don’t worry! If Cruz becomes prez, and the dems still hold the senate, they’ll change the rule back on the last day of their session in 2016. And, if they lose the Senate in 2014, they’ll change the rule back right before they adjourn.

You realize even if Mitch gets primaried out of the race, the next Republican Senate leader will be just as much of a flaming moderate as he is, don’t you?

Look at the leaders the GOP have chosen for the last 40 years. Other than Newt Gingrich (who was ultimately driven from office by his own party), they’ve all been consummate facilitators who were eager to “reach across the aisle” in order to compromise with the opposition for “bi-partisan” agreements.

Evidently that’s the type of leadership a majority of Republican representatives want.

What’s to prevent the Emperor from disolving congress and taking over the universe? Holder is Darth Vader...or is it someone else.

Thankfully, the executive has no power to dissolve the legislature. We learned that lesson with King George III. And even then, here in Massachusetts, the legislature ignored the Royal Governor’s decree and met anyway, becoming the provisional government of Massachusetts Bay until independence was declared, then it was the official government until our constitution was ratified.

People in KY have no clue of what McC stands for; they will show their lack of knowledge again in May 2014.

Interesting.

I was just thinking that God allows Satanic Libs to keep bubbling in the background and occasionally swelling to power to keep reminding His Own what the world will be like when He removes the Church.

Ah, more political/spiritual daydreaming. ;-)

It does seem stupid to blame McConnell for what Reid did.

RE “The only way to deter a nuclear attack is to make it clear that the response will be equally devastating. Unfortunately, weakness is the only message Mitch McConnell has sent the Democrats on this issue,” Hoskins wrote. “

Obama decided that little or nothing he wants will get through house so he might as well make this grab, so GOP response options are very limited now

A real threat to Dems would be to threaten to completely eliminate filibuster in 2015 if GOP takes over Senate.

We are blaming McConnell for doing NOTHING. Reid just carpet bombed us with these radical appointments.

Yet Milquetoast McConnell blindly continues his tip toeing to 2014 strategy. That’s exactly why the Dems won yesterday and the country lost. They execute a game plan and the GOP sits around waiting for the next election.

Nor does the Executive have any authority to flout the Laws (IE: enforcement); nor does Congress have the authority to do 90% of what it currently does (S.S., ‘gun control’, healthcare, etc.)....yet they both do.

I relish the day when the States and the People finally wake up and notice we are a RINO *Republic in name only*

So what is it you think McConnell should do.

He is minority...not majority leader.

Good for Senate Conservatives Fund

McConnell needs to be primaried..and it needs to hurt. Anyone supporting or endorsing McConnell needs a similar fate

Got to bury the Liberal RINOs...and pour concrete on the burial site. McConnell and Graham need to be prime primary targets
