From November of 1964. The Wrecking Crew did the instrumental backup, and the opening is still a killer. Love the sense of menace.

Dobie Gray: "The In Crowd"

Soon after this disc became a hit, Dobie Gray recorded a "KRLA version" that was from then on the only version you could hear on KRLA, Southern California's 50,000-watt rock blaster at 1110 kilocycles on the AM band. He would sing, "I'm in with the 'in' crowd, in love with KRLA..."
