Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

This was sent to me earlier today by a friend and classmate of my husband. Rich and Doug were in pilot training prior to going to Vietnam.

SOLDIER

You fight for us day and night,
Every time you go to war we pray for your plight.
You leave your families to fight for us,
Never asking to come home until you must.
You can’t call in sick if you ‘re not feeling up to par,
There’s no family to comfort you when you are so far.
You fight on the front lines while at home we weep,
You endure everything knowing freedom doesn’t come cheap.
Never turning back you give it your all,
You keep the flag waving strong and tall.
You are the hero that everyone hopes to be,
Someone who will always fight for me.
You will always do your duty, no matter what the price,
You’ve counted up the cost, you know the sacrifice.
Let freedom ring,
And listen to everyone sing,
“You are home, you are home,”
Thank you for serving in that faraway zone.
