I preferred Ramsey Lewis version of The In Crowd. I first heard the Ramsey Lewis version on a juke box in Darmstadt, Germany in September, 1965. But I still prefer the KRLA version by Dobie Gray from March, 1965.

Gene Pitney: "It Hurts to be in Love" I first heard this song over KRLA on August 23, 1964. This was the night of the Beatles' concert at the Hollywood Bowl. KRLA was alternating Beatles songs with debuts, or "pick to hits," as KRLA called them. "It Hurts to Be In Love" was one of those tunes.

Petula Clark: "Downtown" In late 1964 and early 1965, I hated Petula Clark's "Downtown" but loved the Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling." By late January, "Feeling" had reached #1, but "Downtown" was at #2--at least on KRLA, at 1110 kilocycles. Throughout February, I was rooting for "Feeling" to stay at #1. Finally, "Downgtown" began to fade, and I was ecstatic.
In the first week of March, "My Girl" by the Tempttions finally knocked "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" out of the number one spot.
