We can't repeal it with the current WH and Senate. If we play our cards right though that may be a possibility in 2015.

I like Upton's plan because it c ompletely undermines any shred of feasibility that obamacare ever had. Keeping current policies at current costs makes obamacare impossibly expensive. But what it really does is put the screws to the rats. If it passes the House, and it probably will...what does Reid do? He has to let it or Landrieu's bill come to the floor. If it passes it goes to obama and he can veto or sign. If he signs the bill it weakens obamacare to the point of unsustainablilty...if he vetoes it he delivers a HUGE issue for the GOP to run on in the fall. One so golden that even the idiots at the RNC couldn't fail to capitalize on.

The republicans need to stand for a full repeal of obamacare. If they support a temporary fix it will only benefit democrats. Stand for repeal and make democrats run on and defend obamacare in the next election. The anger pot will really be stewing by next year.

If it includes 100 Watt Upton, it’s a trap.

“I dont know why the talk radio hosts are opposing....”

Myself, I don’t think the Republicans should come anywhere near even touching 0care. They can “spiritually” support Landrieu or Upton, but if they join up with the effort, they will be portrayed as recalcitrant saboteurs.

This is the cleanest issue yet wrt tossing Dems out of office, making them very, very nervous, and thus likely to make mistakes.

Just let it lie.

0care was perfect as passed. (/s) The proof? The people who passed it are scared out of their minds and will be forced to reverse their positions time after time until it becomes even more clear that it’s a trainwreck.

How do these Dems run next time?

Wrong IMHO. Passing the bill to ‘fix’ Obamacare makes Republicans culpable for all problems that ensue.

Voting for fix = huge mistake.

Right now, the Dems own it completely. Do we really want to own it with them?

So here’s the vote:

“Do you want to fix Obamacare?”

Yay or Nay?

It’s like:

“Do you want to continue beating your wife?”

Yay or Nay?

It’s a TRAP! There’s no right answer!!

THE ONLY POSSIBLE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION IS TO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION.

I am not going to answer because I do not accept the premiss.

Abstain.

Vote ‘Present’

Don’t fix it; kill it...repeal ObamaCare. We, the People, aren’t interested in anything else.

Republicans must APPEAR like they are doing everything in there power to SAVE Obamacare while in reality doing nothing.

I disagree. They should be doing nothing but reminding people that this crap passed without a single republican vote. They should do nothing until people realize what voting for socialism does in the end. IMHO, it will only be then when conservatism has a chance to win over the hearts and minds of the low information voter.

A little late for that, they voted repeal ~ 50 times

Perfect time for GOP to offer and vote for bills that undermine that law under the guise of reform, like bills that remove mandates. (remove them for all policies outside of exchanges)

But make them all popular sounding “The healthcare personal freedom amendment”, “The you choose your doctor” amendment.

Fight like Dems do!

“I disagree. They should be doing nothing but reminding people that this crap passed without a single republican vote”

You’re absolutely right. They should so nothing.

But they have to vote: They certainly can’t vote Yes. And they can’t Vote ‘NO’ to the (supposed) ‘fix’ either. Either way and they’re ‘doing something.’ Both options are bad.

Must abstain and vote ‘present’ (like Obama did 129 times)

Which is why I think Upton is a da**ed sucker who's already helped create the trap that they're walking into.

Haven’t we tried that over 37 times already?

Not in this environment, no. People are white-hot angry about Obamacide. You think the Democrats are squirming now? Squeeze the bastards until they BLEED. Repeal.

Message to Republicans in the US House: Get your hands off Obamacare, stop trying to fix it, LEAVE IT ALONE!!! It is a pure disaster for the Democrats so stop trying to bail them out. Stand back and let them wallow in it, turn on each other and make it even a bigger disaster.

Harry Reid will turn the Upton bill into the Landrieu bill. They will go to conference and we’ll get 90% of the Landrieu bill (with many more little hidden “gotchas”, no doubt).
______________________________________________________

Exactly!

And we all know the GOPe won’t have the balls to NOT vote for this POS! These gutless wonders fear the MSM more than the people who vote for them.

Hate to be pessimistic, but I fear the Stupid Party has already made plans to make the STUPID move on this.

Agreed.

Here’s a new bill for Congress:

‘Should we stop executing innocent people with shotguns and start executing them with pistols instead?’

For the record, Mr. Congressman - and your re-election is riding on it:

Do you vote Yay or Nay?

See my point?

YAY means we should execute innocent people with shotguns.

NAY means we should execute innocent people with pistols.

This is the Upton bill.

Abstaining is the only acceptable way to vote on this.

Must vote Present.

I agree completely. This is a huge sinking ship. Do not tow it back to shore for repairs. Let it sink.

As for Landrieu’s bill, if Republicans can’t successfully argue that Congress has no constitutional power to compel commerce (the basic point of the successful — in that vein — challenge to Obamacare under the Commerce Clause), if they can’t argue that Congress has no power to compel anyone to sell an insurance plan, or, by extension, to compel a doctor to see a patient, etc., then we’re in sad shape

Anyone who doesn't understand we'll never be able to argue against the Senate taking over this process, never be able to argue against a Fred Upton bill with teeth, a bill that will at least temporarily show the world that the democrats care, that the dems ARE the good guys, that the pubbies are now voting with them and showing it's the EEVIL insurance companies who are at fault is....

a bigger fool than Fred Upton. And let's face it, the only thing good about Fred Upton is his niece........

Just stick with full repeal, who cares how many times its vetoed and overridden by the dems. As long as we send them lifelines, they'll be able to blame us, as long as we keep 100% opposition, they own it, wear it, and will finally suffer for it.

You’re ignoring an effect that is very, very real, in my experience:

If you are carpenter #2 and are called in by a client to fix another carpenter’s screw-up...and you do not execute *perfectly*....you will be branded with *all* of the screwups of carp #1 AND whatever you managed to either screw up or not be able to do. And/or, if you are a carpenter, same scenario, and large amounts of materials have been destroyed or rendered unusable by the actions of carp #1, you will have to not only spend time undoing the errors of carp #1 (which is time charged that does not go to the completion of the task) *and* being responsible for the excess costs of replacing the rendered-unusable materials.

It is virtually an unwinnable situation and many times you will see professionals turn down such work.

The Dems cannot see the future, that’s why they passed this POS. The Republicans cannot see the future but they additionally cannot and will not listen to anyone but their consultant class, who are parasites (like Rove) who have no particular insight *except* their insight into how panicked the Repubs can and will get should they perceive themselves vulnerable.

I go back to the illustration I stole from someone: The Harlem Globetrotters vs. The Washington Generals. The Globetrotters needed the Generals, to lose, so they (the G’s) could do their show. The Republicans just want to lose, so that they get to suck at the trough as the #2 team. This effort will continue that.

What Republicans should do now is to insist that 0care cover illegal aliens.

“100% agree. Do not touch”

Yes. But herein lies the trap! Putting a bill up for a vote is FORCING a ‘touch’. Yay or Nay and we lose!

Must get all Repubs to abstain and vote present. It’s the only way!

You misunderstand. They should do “nothing” to save or aid the bill in any way, shape or form.
