I found it rather telling that TCM was trying to “groom” the audience into accepting Mr. Baldwin as Robert Osburn’s replacement.

MANY letters told TCM in no uncertain terms that he was NOT an acceptable substitute, let alone replacement.

Alec, buddy, perhaps you might just want to fade into the woodwork at this point...

It would be Congress telling the cable companies to let US CHOOSE what we allow into our homes, rather than the cable companies telling US what we have to pay for in addition to what we want to pay for.

It has NOTHING to do with Congress telling the PUBLIC what to buy, it’s telling the cable companies that they have to RESPECT the public’s choices.

BIG difference, no?

No. You have it exactly backwards.

The cable companies sell you a product which is a mix of channels with a price attached. You are free to buy it or not. You are free to choose from several different suppliers: cable, satellite, FIOS, antenna [gasp!].

But you think that Congress should stick its snout in and tell these private companies how they should configure their offerings. Sounds a lot like the mess we've got with insurance.

You evidently consider yourself conservative else you wouldn't likely be here. How do you reconcile your conservatism with your advocacy of more government interference in private business?

The conservatives should champion it because it would benefit us in the long run.

Sounds just like the justifications for Obamacare -- it will benefit us in the long run. How about we pick and choose from what private businesses offer us and leave the government out of it.

I am sure u liked it when Congress passed a law that made cell phone companies let you keep your phone number when u changed plans? Sure u did, it is about having freedom of choice. Al la carte cable is no different. To compare it to Obamacare is just silly.

Of course, I liked it.

Doesn't mean I think government should have gotten involved. You're going to have to learn to separate what you like from the proper role of government.

Just because it's nice doesn't make it right.

Please don’t tell me what I am going to have to learn. I have my opinion, you have yours. Leave it at that.
