Community Health Centers enable people to receive health care in the neighborhoods where they live so they can get high-quality care close to home. That’s why the Affordable Care Act builds on this model of care, by making critical investments in new facilities, doctors, nurses, and staff. This week, HHS announced new primary care sites in 236 communities for 1.25 million additional patients, made possible by the Affordable Care Act. These investments will make an enormous difference in people’s lives by increasing access to the care they need, where they need it.

GA – Health agency awards $5.3M to Georgia care centers The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Thursday that it is awarding more than $5.3 million in Affordable Care Act funding to support new health care centers in Georgia. The funding will help expand the delivery of health care services in the state and is expected to impact more than 41,800 Georgians, department Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a statement. MI - Detroit News: U.S. gives Michigan $6.2 million to open health centers Michigan will receive $6.2 million to open nine federally funded health center sites next year, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Wednesday. The money is part of the $11 billion included in the federal Affordable Care Act to expand the nation’s capacity to provide primary care, dental and mental health services. About $2.2 billion of that total will be awarded across the country during 2014, including $150 million in grants announced Wednesday. LINK

NE – Live Well Nebraska: Community Health Clincs to open in Omaha, Grand Island Community health clinics will open next year in northwest Omaha and Grand Island with a total of $1.03 million in federal Affordable Care Act money. OneWorld Community Health Centers will receive $216,667, most of which will be used to renovate a building at a location that hasn’t been disclosed. NH – NECN: NH health centers get $1.2 M in grants to expand Two community health centers in New Hampshire are getting federal money to expand their services. Indian Stream Health Center in Colebrook and Mid-State Health Center in Plymouth are getting more than $1.2 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The U.S. Health and Human Services Department said $6,812,233 in grants have been awarded to support 11 new health center sites in Ohio. PA – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Two Philadelphia health centers to receive $1.5 million in federal grants The Obama administration will announce today that it is awarding $1.5 million in grants to two new Philadelphia health center sites through the federal Affordable Care Act. The funding is part of approximately $150 million in grant awards to 236 health center programs nationwide, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency said the awards will pay for care for approximately 8,343 additional Pennsylvanians and more than 1.25 million additional patients nationwide. LINK

So, all the doctors I like will be in these centers, right? This is brilliant!!!
If we’re funding community health centers to treat those in low-income areas, why do we need to destroy the existing healthcare system?

First, where is the money coming from? 500 enrollees, or 12, or whatever it is today?
Second, given the clientelle who may or may not have become paying enrollees, these clinics would likely have to be located near MLK Blvd to be close and convenient. Think security fences and double-barred doors and windows.
Third, who are are doctors and nurses going to be to work at these vermin-infested centers?
Well, good. Now all those millionaires can get good health care...................
HHS is spending money like there’s no tomorrow and Congress can’t stop it because they are the ones who gave Sebelius the authority to do it. Congress should control the purse strings but it has relinquished its Constitutional responsibility when it passed Obamacare and gave HHS unbridled spending.
Obama is deciding who should get waivers and what parts of Affordable Care Act should and should not be enforced. A total overreach of his authority as president.
The Supreme Court should rule asap that the ACA is a clear violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers and should be repealed.
The money going to the Community Health centers is actually one of the few practical ideas in OCare. They’re the successors to the free clinics, and they provide decent quality care for those who can’t afford the big ticket system. Fees are usually negotiated (free if necessary), and the centers are usually locally managed and funded by a combination of grants from various government agencies and fund raising among the local population. My only concern about this source of funds is if the Feds try to attach strings to them and end up screwing up a part of the system that actually works quite well.
Our whole problem with healthcare was allegedly the uninsured and those with pre-existing conditions. We could have taken care of them without upsetting the whole applecart. And for a fraction of the cost of Obamacare.
Upsetting the applecart, bankrupting the country, destroying the insurance market, destroying the healthcare system, and putting it all under gov’t control

Its making a difference in my neighborhood. My neighborhood is white rural working people who take care of their own families, earn their own money and are responsible for their own well being.
So yeah its making a difference. Its COSTING them an arm and a leg in taxes so that lazy ghetto social parasites get it more free stuff.
