Most surprising detail is that the girls’ basketball team coach’s partner is of the opposite sex. And for that we can be relieved.
Having been a Jr/Sr high school basketball coach for years, I was more prepared for the ‘partner’ to be of the same sex. In all my years as a boys coach I never, ever met a solitary female girls coach that was not of the lesbian persuasion. And all my experience is in small school districts, not larger urban district. Some of them were very good coaches but every one of them was a lesbian.
My daughter was in a school play. One scene has them leaving the stage and saying “Hurry, or we'll be late for volleyball practice.” Then they come back on stage with the female coach. As they are walking back onto the stage the coach says in a “whispered” voice to one of her players “men are so stupid”. I cracked up with the stereotypical reference!
Talking with my daughter she said the girl that played the “coach” is a lesbian, and ad-libbed the line! Too funny.
