House Republican leaders announced Wednesday the lower chamber will vote next week on a bill that would allow people to keep their health insurance plan if they like it.

The vote hits at President Obama, who, during the debate over the Affordable Care Act, said people could keep their healthcare plans if they like them. Several people, however, have gotten cancelation notices because of ObamaCare's new standards.

Late Wednesday afternoon, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) announced via Twitter that the bill would get a vote.

nothing more than a smokescreen

It is that. The real deal would be to abolish the mandate and end all restrictions on what can and cannot be in a health insurance policy. What the HOR is playing us with is a bad idea. Keeping you policy now would not translate to choosing the policy you want in the future.

I'm actually okay with a CHOICE of catastrophic coverage for everyone, maybe with a government subsidy, but none of the other stuff included. Folks want more coverage than catastrophic coverage, let them pay for it. What could be simpler for getting out of this mess?

You are absolutely correct. John Boehner and Mitch McConnell want the House to give up the power of the purse—to make it easier for the LEFT to finish the job of turning the US into a socialist state. They will increase the debt to levels that will crush us and print dollars to the point it collapses.

George Soros and the international leftist movement is on track. Soros is setting up the US Dollar for its fall off the cliff—like he did to Great Britain. THIS GOES WAY BEYOND OBAMA.

“Several people,”

I don’t want to piss of guys like Windflier, but just to rub it in the face of the media and those that support lies 24/7 (ie - Obama voters), when discussing the birth of our Country through the Civil War, “yes, several blacks were slaves in the South”.

Wonder how that would go.

We shall see how these RAT Senators respond. Talk is cheap - they take their orders from ValJar in the White Hut. You heard Sebelius yesterday - Obamacare "delay is not an option",............."Delaying the Affordable Care Act wouldn't delay people's cancer or diabetes or Parkinson's,"

What a crock - but I am sure this originated in ValJar's White Hut.

Ted Cruz threw them a lifeline...

It's a good strategy, giving your opposition enough rope to hang themselves. I must confess to using it with my most bothersome students back in my teaching career. <^..^>

With what Cruz did, Obama owns Obamacare and the RINOs wouldn't stop it. Conservatives who supported Cruz's endeavor came out clean.

So, now, the Republicans are going to "rescue" Obama from the consequences of his deceit and outright lies to "the People"?

Painful as it is, the only path to liberation from the new tyranny being imposed on America may be to allow the deceit to be fully played out in consequences, both intended and unintended.

I completely agree. And whether a bill like this passes or not, insurance companies are cancelling plans left and right, and 'keep your plan' would be largely moot.

But what is real is the FLOP SWEAT by 7 Senate Democrats (2 are already retiring) who are up for re-election in states that even Mitty won in 2012 .....

Begich (AK)
Pryor (AR)
Landrieu (LA)
Baucus (MT) retiring
Hagan (NC)
Johnson (SD)
Rockefeller (WV) retiring

Putting aside for a moment whether or not introducing this bill is a good idea, just for the sake of discussion, what happens if this bill passes and lands on Obama's desk for his signature? Does he sign it and admit to being a fraud when he previously said "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan?" Does he veto the bill, further enraging the people who are being dropped by their insurers? It could be interesting.

The concept behind Upton’s bill is being supported by some Democrats, including two in the Senate — Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) — who have proposed a similar bill.

I’m thinking they both will face the voters in 2014. I know Landrieu will.

No, they're going to rescue millions of small business owners who are victims of our commie dictator's policies.

I really can't understand the sentiment on this board who are OK with millions having to pay thousands and thousands more each year.

These people need rescuing and I'm glad the GOP is making that attempt.

Completely nonsensical.

I really don't think the millions of small business owners having to pay thousands more in health costs because of OC are going to see it your way.

What possible effect can it have to spend time passing a bill (intended to become a law) that mandates something that is (under present law) illegal? It is a well-established principle of law that a law that mandates the impossible or what is illegal is unenforceable. They might just as well pass a law that says you can eat the same steak you ate three weeks ago over and over again. It is a complete waste of time and effort. It’s a piece of theater where the actors understand perfectly well that what they are doing is all for show and can not, by law, nor logic, in any format other than pure fantasy, have any functionality. So even (in fact, especially) if you oppose 0care you should be furious that people we/you pay to represent us/you are busy working at something of zero functionality.

The same way that Obama postponed the employer mandate.

It's possible to reverse pieces of the law without doing away with the whole thing.

Many if not most of the citizens of the USA are more interested in the social pablums of ball games, Hollywood fairy land, casinos for gambling, music concerts and the like societal activities. These people care less that their future and that of the USA is being corrupted/taken over by persons like Soros acting for international banking powers. You can include the likes of Saudi Arabia who was an enemy of the USA in WWII. It was the ties with the crown of England that tied the USA to the mid-east oil producers, and we have the famous words of Bush1 that with the Gulf war the USA has entered the ‘new world order’.

Of course he signs it and claims credit for it. He will say that when he gives his word to the American people, he keeps it. Obama will blame the bureaucrats for sneaking the language in that took away the right to keep your insurance if you like it. He will say he is madder than anyone about how this happened and will then go on to extoll the benefits of Obamacare, e.g., everyone accepted including those with preexisting conditions, the right of 26 year olds to stay on their parents insurance, free preventative care, etc.

And their will be a signing ceremony in the WH with smiling Reps and Dems(especially those up for reelection in 2014) posing with Obama who will say that this is the kind of bipartisanship we need to get things done. The MSM will have an Obamagasm.

If the GOP continues to assist the Dems in fixing Obamacare and alleviating the pain it causes (the Reps have helped pass laws about eliminating some of the reporting requirements under Obamacare and stopping the the Long Ternm Care provisions), then they will ensure that the law is never repealed and replaced. They are making fixes to a terrible bill that ultimately will lead to far greater costs for many millions (not thousands) in the future and bankrupt the country with this huge new entitlement program.

By helping to rescue Obamacare, the GOP is ensuring its survival.

The vote hits at President Obama

BS. This will help Obama. He'll claim that he is keeping his promise by insuring we can all keep our plans and doctors. Now he can simply blame the insurance companies for not taking everyone back.
